William John Jacques Demers, LL.B., known as Jacques Demers, (born February 28, 1954 in Montreal, Québec), is a French-Canadian corporate lawyer and managing partner of Ogilvy Renault's Toronto office. He has been independently recognized as a leading lawyer in numerous professional surveys and directories in Canada and internationally, specifically in the legal fields of Banking and Corporate Finance. He has been featured in The Lexpert / American Lawyer Media Guide to the Top 500 Lawyers in Canada (2005-2006), International Who's Who of Project Finance Lawyers (2005), International Who's Who of Banking Lawyers (2005), Guide to the World’s Leading Project Finance Lawyers (2005), Chambers’ Global Directory (2005), Chambers' Global Guide to The World’s Leading Lawyers 2006 and other legal publications.

Jacques Demers grew up in Montreal and attended McGill University before studying law at Université Laval. He graduated with his Bachelor of Laws in 1976 and was ranked the top law student in the province of Québec. He took the Québec Bar in 1977 and the Ontario Bar in 1984.

Before joining forces with Ogilvy Renault in 2001, Jacques Demers was leading a much smaller Toronto firm: Meighen Demers. Despite its size, the firm had some of Toronto's most recognized lawyers, including Canadian senator Michael Meighen, who is also apart of the new firm.
