William Henry Allen (1784-1813) was a United States Navy officer who was killed in action during the War of 1812. He was born in Providence, R.I. and entered the Navy in 1800. He commanded the brig Argus off England in 1813 when his vessel was defeated by the British brig HMS Pelican on August 14. Allen was mortally injured when a round shot cut off his right leg, but he remained at his station until he fainted from blood loss. On the next day, he died of the injuries suffered in the fight.
