William Edgar Weldon

(William) Edgar Weldon (born 1944) is an American real estate developer and politician.

He was born in Wetumpka, Alabama, and graduated from the University of Alabama in 1965. He then served in the U. S. Army.

With his brother Charles Weldon, he developed 20,000 apartments across the Southern United States in the 1970s and 1980s. These were securitized and sold via Merrill Lynch partnership with Weldon's Southeast Property Management of Birmingham remaining as the manager of the apartments.

The family then bought a mortgage bank in Kansas and hotel in Mountain Brook, Alabama.

Weldon is the long-time leader in the Alabama Republican Party including a stint as Chairman. He has also served as a member of the Republican National Committee.
