- William Frank Buckley, Sr. (his father), lawyer, oil baron and counterrevolutionary
- William Francis Buckley (1928-1985) (no relation), CIA employee captured and tortured by Islamist group Hezbollah
It is also the name of an Australian:
- William Buckley (convict) (1780-1856), famous for escaping and living among the aborigines when transported to the colony of New South Wales
