William John "Will" Hudson Makar (born March 2, 1989) is an American singer and was a semi-finalist on the fifth season of American Idol.

Makar was born in The Woodlands, Texas to John Nestor Makar and Shirlyn Ann Morehead; his last name is of Ukrainian origin. Makar studies Japanese. He was a 16-year-old sophomore at The Woodlands College Park High School during his Idol run. He was held back a year in elementary school by request of his parents. He plans to graduate high school a semester early in the class of 2008, while simultaneously attending early college courses in music school.[1]

In secondary school, Makar starred in a number of musical productions. In 1999 Makar sang with the Houston Children’s Chorus for President Bill Clinton, and again in 2002 for President George W. Bush. After five years as a member of the Houston Children’s Chorus, Makar decided he had grown too old, and "retired." In 2003, Makar, along with his three friends Louis, Bobby, and Aaron, formed a band called Last Born, of which Makar held the position of the lead vocals until 2005, when he decided to pursue a solo career. Makar auditioned for Idol in Austin, Texas.

Makar was eliminated on March 9, 2006, which was the same week that the Top 12 was announced. He finished at around fifteenth place, along with Kinnik Sky and Ayla Brown. During the show, Makar developed friendships with David Radford, Kevin Covais, and Ace Young.

Makar's fanbase is known as the Makaritas or Makaroons.
