Wildey, Saint Michael, Barbados
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Wildey area of Saint Michael is located on the border with the Parish of Christ Church. Normally a very busy area with the ABC Highway passing through, Wildey is one of the main convergence points for vehicles traveling either towards the capital-city Bridgetown or else towards points in northern Barbados. The tri-directional split or fork in the highway at the stop-lights is known as the "Wildey Y". In addition to traveling towards Bridetown and northern Barbados via the rest of Saint Michael, Wildey's third road comes from the South-eastern regions of the island and the ABC Highway is the main artery for traffic from and towards the Grantley Adams International Airport found in Eastern Christ Church.
Buildings found in the immediate vicinity of Wildey include:
- The Wildey Gymnasium and Aquatic Centre (at the The Sir Gary Sobers Sports Complex).
- The regional office for Cable and Wireless (Formerly both the Barbados Telephone (Bartel) and Barbados External Telephone (BET) building.)
- The Sagicor Corporation (Formerly the Life of Barbados Insurance Company building)
- The mall at Wildey
