Wilbur Hatch

Wilbur Hatch, who composed much background music for radio comedy and drama series, was born May 24, 1902, in Mokena, Illinois, and died December 22, 1969, in Studio City, California.

He began in 1922 as a pianist on KYW (Chicago), advancing to CBS where he created music for such shows as The Whistler, Meet Corliss Archer, My Favorite Husband, Broadway is My Beat, Our Miss Brooks and The Screen Guild Theater.

During the late 30s and early 40s he was conductor on the Campbell Soup Radio Show.

Musical director and composed the theme for CBS Radio's "The Whistler" (1942-1955).

Musical director for CBS Radio's "Broadway is My Beat" (1949-1954).

Musical director for CBS Radio's "Luke Slaughter of Tombstone" (1958).

His most lasting on-screen credit was for some of the music, and as the conductor of the Desi Arnaz Orchestra, on "I Love Lucy".

He also was the music composer of "I Love Lucy" (3 episodes, 1951-1956), "The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour" (4 episodes, 1959-1960), "The Lucy Show" (24 episodes, 1964-1967) and "Here's Lucy" (1968) TV Series

He is buried at Mountain View Cemetery, Altadena, Los Angeles County, California, USA
