[edit] External Links Complaint
Why does my Unofficial Link get deleted? SFGAm News, SFGAm World, and SFGAm Zone are still there along with SFGAm Pictures, and so on. Mine doesn't cut it though. Why, is it so different? It's Six Flags Great America Unlimited. I'm only putting it on the first page (Six Flags Great America). I'm not putting it on all the pages. It's not fair!! http://thrillridesweb.batcave.net/GAmerica/GAmerica.html
They did the same thing at Six Flags Over Georgia. It's the main page. It's Six Flags Over Georgia Extreme Machines. http://thrillridesweb.batcave.net/SFOG/SFOG.html It's only one link for each, and they are completely different.
How about Kiddieland Everlasting too? You took that one out. They AREN'T the same WEBSITE. They are completely different!!! Kiddieland information is different than SFOG, and SFGAm!! I'm not SPAMMING anything. It's giving people more information about the darn park. You should go to the links, and see for yourself. I know what you are thinking. You are thinking that I'm just using the same address at all these places. There is a difference between ALL three. They are different websites in one site.
Why would I link to the main page at one site like only at Six Flags Great America, and make them go to my thrillridesweb.batcave.net first page. I'm not going to do that.
Check each site out. They are there own entity with different information about each. The Kiddieland one is thrillridesweb.batcave.net/kidland/Kiddieland.html Can you please research before just looking at the darn addresses? I put pictures of Kiddieland on my website to help with your information, and the other sites too!!! It's NOT SPAM!! I'm sorry, but rcdb.com doesn't have anything in particular to do with Six Flags Great America. That should be under roller coasters, or something. I love that site darely, but it doesn't anything specifically to do with Great America.
It's already on all the roller coaster pages of probably about every roller coaster ever made. You go to America Eagle Ride page, and there it is on the corner. You go to some other roller coaster, and there it is. It doesn't need to be on the main Six Flags Great America page. I would be fine with keeping both rcdb, and mine, but I'm just saying that it doesn't specifically have to do with just Great America.
I don't even say from Mapquest or something like that. I don't get it. I try for people to see the information about Coasters, and Thrill Rides at the parks.

Just to let you know that a meetup is planned in Auckland for the 25th of June (see Wikipedia:Meetup/Auckland for more details), and that you are cordially invited. GeorgeStepanek\talk 00:21, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] RE: link
Hi - I removed the external link in the Roller coaster article primarily because it appeared to be a spam link. The wording of the link itself seemed to be there to promote the creator of the link (Joe Schwartz), as it mentioned him by name and included a second link within the link text to his website. If you feel the link is truly helpful to that particular article, I won't challenge it again if you add it (but I do recommend reducing the link wording to "a map of various roller coasters in the United States" or similar. Even better, you can also post the link on the article's talk page and let others discuss its inclusion. Let me know if you have any other questions --AbsolutDan (talk) 20:36, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
- I'm glad we were able to reach an agreement on this. Just one minor point - though I may at times speak in an authoritative tone, I'm not an admin here :) --AbsolutDan (talk) 22:13, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Additions to coaster infobox require article updating, need help
I've made several large additions to the {{Infobox roller coaster}} template, which will require updating of EVERY article using it. These additions are automatic unit conversion for the statistics and automatic categorization. I have also provided full documentation of every parameter on the template page, which I strongly encourage you to read. Every article will need the following changes:
- These parameters must be delinked: location, section, manufacturer, and type. They will be automatically linked, and will (except for section) be used for automatic categorization.
- The type parameter must be Steel or Wood.
- The secondary type (Inverted, Floorless, Duelling etc.) should be moved to the type2 parameter. If a second secondary type is necessary, it goes in type3. In either case, don't link them, it will be done automatically.
- height, drop, length, speed, and restriction must have all non-numeric characters removed. height, drop, and length must be expressed in feet (using decimals instead of inches if necessary), speed must be expressed in miles per hour, and restriction must be expressed in inches. All of these parameters will automatically be converted to metric and displayed in both forms.
Also, the rcdb_number parameter should be added to every coaster article that doesn't have it yet.
If the article is about a widely-cloned coaster such as Batman: The Ride where the template covers multiple installations of the same coaster, the redesigned template will not be appropriate. For these articles, simply change the template to "Infobox roller coaster simplified". This is the old version, without all the automation.
I've already updated over 50 articles myself, but I can't do this all day and I'll need your help to get it done quickly. The list of pages using the template can be found here. I'm sending this message to all listed participants of Wikipedia:WikiProject Roller Coasters. Dusso Janladde 07:43, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Brain Teaser AfD
To all WikiProject Roller coasters participants: Brain Teaser, a kiddie coaster at Six Flags Darien Lake is up for deletion via WP:AFD. This isn't my article, but if it's deleted, it sets the prescident for many small coasters to be deleted, such as Mild Thing, which runs counter to the Coaster Wikiproject and also will make a lot of park templates look dumb since they can't include all coasters. [edit] Universal Orlando Resort External Link Clean-Up
I think I did everything necessary to remove the spam. If you disagree, let me know so we can talk about it. Most of those sites were blatant advertising, but I think that Discover Universal Orlando is decent enough to stay. --Farquaadhnchmn(Dungeon) 21:11, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
