This is the Seeteufel (sea devil) submarine, built by Wilhelm Bauer in 1855.

The picture is taken from the 1937 German book: Wilhelm Bauers Kampf um das erste deutsche Tauchboot (Wilhelm Bauer’s struggle for the first German submarine) by Oskar G. Foerster This book (unattainable today), while being infested with a lot of prejudice against the English and Russians and with a lot of German heroism (after all in 1937 Germany was under the rule of Hitler), still offers some information about the lesser-known one of Bauer’s two submarines not found anywhere else.
