[edit] Mention on SABC2.

Zanimum emailed me to say that the television program Go open on SABC2 will feature Wikipedia on 2004-12-11t17:30+02:00. I'll try and go to someone with a TV to watch it, but it would be nice if others also try to catch the show to report on it. — Jeandré, 2004-12-10t21:01z

[edit] Vandal

There seems to be a vandal that uses Telkom ADSL, which I am also a subscriber. Yesturday Dante Alighieri banned the IP address 198.54.202.242 as a returning vandal. I was the unlucky person who was assigned that IP address yesturday evening and could not edit. Does anyone knows how often Telkom refreshes or assigns new IP address? --Jcw69 18:32, 30 Jan 2005 (UTC)

242.202.54.198.in-addr.arpa. 86400 IN PTR ctb-cache1-vif1.saix.net.

It is a transparent proxy. I was hit too. I emailed Dante to let him know. In other words, many SAIX subscribers are funnelled through this proxy - out of their control. Wizzy 18:36, Jan 30, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] WikiProject started

Right, so I went ahead and started a Wikipedia:WikiProject about South Africa at Wikipedia:WikiProject:South Africa. Its only a skeleton (ripped from the corresponding NZ project), but maybe we can use it as a focus point / noticeboard for items related to South Africa needing work? Dewet 07:30, 3 Feb 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Spion Kop

Hi all, There is a vote taking place at Talk:Battle of Spion Kop about moving the page to Battle of Spioenkop, all comments are welcome.--Jcw69 16:58, 10 Mar 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Timeline

A timeline was asked for on Wikipedia:WikiProject:South Africa, so I started Timeline of South African history for all of us to use--Jcw69 17:06, 10 Mar 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Naming convention for African cities

I have proposed a naming convention for African cities at Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (city names)#Convention for Africa. It basically restates current practice, but I would particularly appreciate any comments on the convention as it regards South Africa. Warofdreams 15:18, 8 August 2005 (UTC)
