[edit] Scope

Hi all. Combining the efforts of editors interested in Spain and Spain-related topics is definitely a useful idea. Do we want to identify any particular priorities for WikiProject activity? --Nick Boalch\talk 12:58, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

Okay, I'll kick off with a suggestion. Why don't we have a monthly featured article drive, with the aim of getting one chosen article to WP:FA standard (via WP:GA standard if necessary!) through collaborative editing. I'll suggest Adolfo Suárez as our first candidate... --Nick Boalch\talk 23:08, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
I'll try to add something here from the Spanish version. Cheers -- Szvest 14:28, 26 May 2006 (UTC) Wiki me up™á
To get this project of the ground, I think we should take a top-down approach. Of all the articles in this project, Spain is the most important, since it summarizes everything else. Therefore, that should be our first target for FAC. In the process of improving the main Spain article, we will undoubtedly have "leftover" FA-quality information that we can plug into daughter articles, thus making it easier to write more FAs. Tell me what you think. Lovelac7 23:34, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Xueta

A mess. See Talk:Xueta#A_mess. I'm pretty ignorant on the topic of the Xuetes. Perhaps someone here is clueful and can help fix the article? - Jmabel | Talk 23:51, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Natural Wonders of Spain

Congratulations! I've been testing Wikipedia's coverage of Natural Wonders of the World, and Spain had the most missing articles:

Although I searched for alternate names, it's possible some might already exist. If not, then you have some fun new articles to write! —Keenan Pepper 23:25, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for this -- I'll try and start articles on these over the next few days. --ⁿɡ͡b Nick Boalch\talk 15:02, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
Cool! I'll help if I can... you can put nonexistant articles on your watchlist, right? —Keenan Pepper 17:16, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Spanish architecture, nomination for Wikipedia:Collaboration of the week

I have just proposed Spanish architecture for WP:CotW. It is a terrible hole in Wikipedia. I request for your support. Thank you for advance!--Garcilaso 13:34, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

Good suggestion. We should get an article on this written even if it doesn't get CotW. Some potential sources:
  • Barral i Altet, X. (1998) Art and Architecture of Spain (Boston, MA: Little Brown)
  • Danby, M. (1997) The Fires of Excellence: Spanish and Portuguese Oriental Architecture (Reading: Garnet)
  • Kubler, G. (1959) Art and Architecture in Spain and Portugal and their American Dominions, 1500 to 1800 (Harmondsworth : Penguin Books)
--ⁿɡ͡b Nick Boalch\talk 15:02, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
I have being writing about partial aspect of Spanish architecture in other articles, but I don´t dare to start such a huge article for myself, due to my limited level of English. Thank you, Nick for your support. Good sources in Spanish are also
  • The two volumes of Historia de la arquitectura española Fernando Chueca Goitia Diputación de Ávila, 2001
  • Invariantes castizos de la Arquitectura EspañolaFernando Chueca Goitia ISBN 84-23704-59-9
--Garcilaso 17:12, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
I'd really encourage you to go ahead if you have the knowledge -- we can always proofread and copyedit your English if necessary, although from your other contributions it looks rather good! Or, if you prefer, I will happily translate from Spanish. --ⁿɡ͡b Nick Boalch\talk 20:05, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
OK! I will try. First I am going to copy some editions of mine and of other users to fill the holes of some periods, then I will fit them to make a consistent whole. Only after that I can start with Roman architecture, Al-Andalus, and the 19th and 20th century. Thank you for your proposal of translation. I am going to see if it is necessary or not. Any way, any help on form or content (especially about Megalithic architecture: I have little idea of it!), will be apreciated. Thank you again! --Garcilaso 09:50, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
The article has beame CotW! :-) It has grown substantially from one week ago, although it still hasn´t got a section for Visigothic architecture, Nasrid architecture of Granada, 19th century and a proper redaction for contemporary architecture. Cheer up, and thanks again for the support in nomination and in the article itself!--Garcilaso 10:20, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Guipuscoa

Hi everybody, I would you to give your point of view on Category talk:Guipuscoa. In June 2006, the categories Guipuscoa and Gipuzkoa were proposed to be merged and nobody excepte me has said anything at all on the talk page.Thank you. --Manu bcn 10:00, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Project directory

Hello. The WikiProject Council has recently updated the Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Directory. This new directory includes a variety of categories and subcategories which will, with luck, potentially draw new members to the projects who are interested in those specific subjects. Please review the directory and make any changes to the entries for your project that you see fit. There is also a directory of portals, at User:B2T2/Portal, listing all the existing portals. Feel free to add any of them to the portals or comments section of your entries in the directory. The three columns regarding assessment, peer review, and collaboration are included in the directory for both the use of the projects themselves and for that of others. Having such departments will allow a project to more quickly and easily identify its most important articles and its articles in greatest need of improvement. If you have not already done so, please consider whether your project would benefit from having departments which deal in these matters. It is my hope that all the changes to the directory can be finished by the first of next month. Please feel free to make any changes you see fit to the entries for your project before then. If you should have any questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you. B2T2 17:23, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Pre-Pyrenees

Someone appears to have decided that the term Pre-Pyrenees is POV and that there should be no such article. I don't know what the heck this is about, and it's not something I know much about; thought someone here might want to follow up. - Jmabel | Talk 01:47, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Rafael Maroto

Several of us have largely translated the massive Spanish-language article on Rafael Maroto. It still needs some cleanup (see Talk:Rafael Maroto#Ready to go?) and the Spanish-language original, despite being a featured article there, was very short on citation. - Jmabel | Talk 19:56, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Diego Velázquez FAR

Diego Velázquez has been nominated for a featured article review. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. Please leave your comments and help us to return the article to featured quality. If concerns are not addressed during the review period, articles are moved onto the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Remove" the article from featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. Reviewers' concerns are here. Sandy (Talk) 01:04, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
