You can see the coding for this box at the following template.
I picked a green colour that is similar to the green jacket, as well as grass.
You'll notice that the majors only appear if the player has actually won one (contrast Tiger and Seve). This is useful since very few players have won all four.
I have only added a few bits of information. Now you have the skeleton I hope you can expand it more creatively. David D. (Talk) 00:15, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
- David D., thanks for the help. Another user created a different, more comprehensive one, which I think will be the one that this project will use. Anyways, thanks for taking the time. For anyone interested the other infobox is at [1]. Wikster72 01:42, 13 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Name is in American English
Hi. I've written far more of the articles about golfers than anyone else. The first thing this project needs is a new name. "Pro golfers" is 100% American English only. There is no reason to exclude leading amateurs, such as those in the early days of the game and the likes of Michelle Wie before she turned professional last year. It should be WikiProject:Golfers. [edit] Invitation
I just wanted to let you know that the Biography WikiProject has been reorganized and we wanted to see if you guys were interested in merging with us? We've reorganized it so that it's more like the Military history project with task forces for the specialized areas. One of the task forces we could create could be Athletes-- by merging with us and becoming a task force, you wouldn't lose anything! You'd keep your same page here, it would just be redirected to Athletes task force (which we'd create) and you would continue as before, except that instead you'd also gain the benefits of being part of a larger project. We're also inviting the only other active athletic project (Baseball players). We would give you a parameter to our Project banner (athletes-task-force=yes) and a note would appear that says the article is a part of that task force (see example on military history article), plus having peer reviews and collaborations, and being able to grade articles by class and importance so that the articles can be part of the WP:1.0 project and much more... Let me know what you think! If you are interested, you need to add your project to the task force vote we're currently having plange 16:08, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
- Just wanted to give you guys an update -- we started a Sports and Games work group, so if you want to add sports-work-group=yes to bio tags that would be great! Invitation is still open to merge with us. We just merged WikiProject Musicians and they now have their own 1.0 assessments, etc., --plange 17:06, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Ryder Cup appearances
I've added this as a optional field in Template:Infobox golfer. I know that by default this excludes a number of golfers but it is generaly considered an important statistic in a golfer's career and can simply be ignored by everyone else. josh (talk) 21:26, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Potential Merger??
Hi all at Wikiproject Golfers, I have been looking to set up a Wikiproject Golf Courses for a while now, but I then noticed this project. I was wondering if we would like to work together by merging these two projects into one, called Wikiproject Golf, and have Wikiproject Golfers and Wikiproject Golf Courses as two subprojects? Or any other way you would want to do it would be fine. Anyway thanks for your time, send me a message on my talk page if you are interested in any way.

[edit] Project directory
Hello. The WikiProject Council has recently updated the Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Directory. This new directory includes a variety of categories and subcategories which will, with luck, potentially draw new members to the projects who are interested in those specific subjects. Please review the directory and make any changes to the entries for your project that you see fit. There is also a directory of portals, at User:B2T2/Portal, listing all the existing portals. Feel free to add any of them to the portals or comments section of your entries in the directory. The three columns regarding assessment, peer review, and collaboration are included in the directory for both the use of the projects themselves and for that of others. Having such departments will allow a project to more quickly and easily identify its most important articles and its articles in greatest need of improvement. If you have not already done so, please consider whether your project would benefit from having departments which deal in these matters. Also, I note that yours is a comparatively new project. You may be interested in the Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Guide, which has a lot of information regarding project organization from several of the most successful WikiProjects. It is my hope that all the changes to the directory can be finished by the first of next month. Please feel free to make any changes you see fit to the entries for your project before then. If you should have any questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you. B2T2 19:38, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
