[edit] Naming convention

What does the DOT use? --Rschen7754 (talk - contribs) 04:18, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

We may have to refer to the Antarctic Treaty --TinMan 04:44, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
Really? I thought the penguins were in charge of the roads. --Rschen7754 (talk - contribs) 04:51, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
The way I see it, we can either go by the semi-official name ("Antarctica Ice Highway X") or by the common name (insert penguin speak here). I prefer the former, personally. --TMF T - C 04:54, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
According to this source: [1], the penguins are quite happy with Principle 2 --TinMan 05:06, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
Argh...beaten by the "common name" supporters again... Maybe we can work out a compromise - how does fish for "Antarctica Ice Highway X" sound to the penguin folk? --TMF T - C 05:16, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
Better yet, <Antarctica> Penguin Path Z. This'll be sure to please both sides. --TMF T - C 05:18, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
I think we'll have to use the "Penguin Path" terminology. The penguins' governmental employees unions use that terminology, and if you've ever dealt with them, you know that it's not a good idea to ever ruffle their feathers. Badbilltucker 18:48, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] SVGs

I couldn't find anything in the Antarctica MUTCD regarding shields (plus the one thing I did find about them was written in penguin-speak), so this () will have to do. Hope the penguins approve... --TMF T - C 05:38, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

It's even in the black and white penguin colors. --Rschen7754 (talk - contribs) 05:42, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
This is the only shield I've found on Route 1. It doesn't seem to have a east/west or north/south orientation. It might be a beltway. --TinMan 14:07, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Project directory

Hello. The WikiProject Council has recently updated the Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Directory. This new directory includes a variety of categories and subcategories which will, with luck, potentially draw new members to the projects who are interested in those specific subjects. Please review the directory and make any changes to the entries for your project that you see fit. There is also a directory of portals, at User:B2T2/Portal, listing all the existing portals. Feel free to add any of them to the portals or comments section of your entries in the directory. The three columns regarding assessment, peer review, and collaboration are included in the directory for both the use of the projects themselves and for that of others. Having such departments will allow a project to more quickly and easily identify its most important articles and its articles in greatest need of improvement. If you have not already done so, please consider whether your project would benefit from having departments which deal in these matters. It is my hope that all the changes to the directory can be finished by the first of next month. Please feel free to make any changes you see fit to the entries for your project before then. If you should have any questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you. B2T2 15:05, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

This project is a joke, it's not a real project... --Rschen7754 (talk - contribs) 06:04, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
shhh! Stratosphere (U T) 06:07, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
What should it be under? Politics (since it's penguin politics), Transportation, or whatever? --Rschen7754 (talk - contribs) 06:15, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
HAHA. I don't know who put it there, but this Wikiproject is under Geograhpy/Antartcia of the Wikiproject Council Directory. Now that's funny.--TinMan 20:52, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
Should we leave it there? --Rschen7754 (talk - contribs) 21:34, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
lol, there is a big ass notice at the top of the page that it's a joke, not our fault if it's added... ;) Stratosphere (U T) 21:40, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
Let's just leave it there and see what happens :) --Rschen7754 (talk - contribs) 21:48, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

It's still there. ;) --Rschen7754 (talk - contribs) 05:34, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Road Rules

This is the only place in the world that I know of where sliding on your belly is an acceptable way to travel down the road. Does anyone know if they drive on the left or right side of the road? --TinMan 18:37, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
