Wikipedia:Wikipedia Youth Foundation
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The youth (16 year olds and younger) have been, for a long time, a minority among active Wikipedians and have never stood out. The Wikipedia Youth Foundation has been formed to help the youth of Wikipedia stand out and to help prevent any mistakes and misunderstandings related to them.
As of November 2006, the project's coordinators are Michaelas10 and Kalathalan.

[edit] Foundation goals
- Helping older Wikipedians know that they are speaking to a younger Wikipedian and provide them with training and support. In case they did something wrong, teach them by providing links to the proper guides and not with warnings.
- Encourage youth participation as Wikipedia would benefit from younger members.
[edit] How it's done
All youth are welcome to join the foundation whether they are new members or experienced Wikipedians.
We suggest that all youth who wish to participate in the foundation add the userbox below to their user page with {{User wikipedia/Wikipedia Youth Foundation participants}}
, which displays the following:
Doing so will automatically add your name to the Wikipedia Youth Foundation participants category.
In case you don't want to use a userbox, you can simply add the category to the bottom of your user page with [[Category:Wikipedians in the Wikipedia Youth Foundation|{{PAGENAME}}]]
to be added to the category.
[edit] Privacy at Wikipedia
- Children and young adults should never give out personal information that could be used to identify their real-life name, address, or finances. Anything you post on Wikipedia can be read by anyone, not just the person you intended to read it.
- You are never required on Wikipedia to tell anyone your age, or whether or not you are a minor. Membership in this group is voluntary, and it is intended to support you if you need help.
- The Wikimedia Foundation reserves the right to cooperate with law enforcement authorities if it is alerted to possible criminal activity against Wikipedians.
