WikiProject evolution and creation seeks to craft a series of NPOV articles on Evolution and Creation.

Its intent is to remove every last shred of bias from these articles and keep it out permanently.

It is not intended to endorse or reject any view, least of all the following:

  • that evolution is a fact, i.e., really true
  • that evolution is a scientific theory
  • that evolution is falsifiable
  • that creationism is religious extremism (or religious malarky)
  • that creationism/intelligent design is unscientific
  • that creationism/intelligent design is scientific
  • that intelligent design is inherently creationist
  • that there is no God (= atheism)
  • that only the material world exists
  • that God exists
  • that the spirit world exists
  • that there is an afterlife
  • that all life came into being without God's intervention
  • that God guided evolution
  • that God created each species as a special, deliberate act
    • that God did this a short time ago (millenia, not eons)

It will acknowledge well-known and easily verifiable facts like the following:

  • Darwin and others originated the idea of biological evolution
  • There has been a generations-long conflict between supporters of evolution and creation
  • The word evolution is often used with overlapping or contradictory definitions
    • naturalistic - no Creator needed, physical forces and principles sufficient
    • gradual appearance - new forms of life have showed up over the eons, whether "created" or not.
  • people contend heatedly over which ideas are correct
  • people contend heatedly over which ideas should be taught to schoolchildren - and in what way

If you've demonstrated an commitment to unbiased writing, you are welcome to this project. If you're a newcomer, we'll assume good faith and let you in, too. If you were ever placed on arbcom parole for NPOV violations or lost a bid for adminship, you can't join; you're certainly welcome to keep editing the same articles, obviously.
