[edit] Title
WikiProject on Warhammer 40,000
[edit] Scope
This project is intended to bring some order, consistency and restraint to the 'legion' of articles that are now on Wikipedia relating to Warhammer 40,000. Hopefully, it should reduce the numbers of articles to a managable level (through merging), and improve the overall quality of the articles. It should also allow a set of rules to be implemented for the articles that prevent their future decline into a non-encyclopedic state.
[edit] Parentage
Father of this WikiProject is WikiProject Role-playing games
Mother of this WikiProject is WikiProject Computer and video games

[edit] Tasks
[edit] Adopt an article
Similar to the Collaboration of the week, but on a smaller scale, you might want to "adopt" an article. This would involve doing the research, writing, and picture-taking (if possible) for either a non-existent article or a stub. Of course, everyone else can still edit an adopted article, and you can work on other things too, but the idea is to find a focus for a while, to try and build up the number of quality articles the Project has produced.

- A whole bunch of the Commons images have been marked for speedy deletion as copyright violations. I'm not really sure as to why yet, but am investigating. --Pak21 11:38, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
- While the editor who has tagged the images is being remarkably unhelpful, it appears that Commons:Derivative works would apply here and those images are going to have to be deleted from Commons. We'll have to consider what we want to do about getting them back onto Wikipedia as a fair-use image. --Pak21 11:58, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

- The Chaos Legion pages seem to have taken on a lot more gaming information than previously- especially in the combat doctrine. Should there be an effort to separate 40k game terminology from 40k fiction/fluff?Primarch 00:39, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
- Could I direct project members to the Horus Rising discussion page? There's some debate over whether or not to include personal theories to explain Sanguinnius' hair colour being different in the novel as opposed to previous canonical depictions. Input would be appreciated.Primarch 23:47, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

- Done -- I removed them all :-) --Pak21 13:01, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
- Timeline of the Warhammer 40,000 universe: this has survived AfD, but is frankly a complete mess. I really have no idea what to do with it, and personally am intending to let it bitrot. --Pak21 09:17, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
- In the references list, Xenology had somehow (almost certainly a copy-and-paste error by me, but I haven't actually checked the history) acquired the ISBN of Fire Warrior; this error may well have propogated into articles, but I can't find an easy way to check for this. If you see any references to Xenology, please check the ISBN: it should be 1-84416-282-6, not 1-84416-010-6. Cheers --Pak21 13:10, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
- Many of the articles dealing with Chaos
, such as the main Chaos (Warhammer) article itself and the ones for the gods (Khorne, Nurgle, Slaanesh, Tzeentch)could use somewhat major cleanup- they often have problems with tone, "gamerspeak", and unsourced/unverifiable statements, and so on. I'll try to get to them myself at some point (since I seem to be the Chaos expert at the moment), but I'm working on getting a teaching job, which will cut down on my time (especially if I get it). There's a lot of crossover with Warhammer Fantasy involved, so knowledge of that system will probably be helpful. --DarthBinky 15:32, 30 July 2006 (UTC)- I did a cleanup of the main Chaos (Warhammer) article this afternoon.--DarthBinky 03:21, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
- I did cleanup to the four major gods mentioned above, and tried to standardize them so they all look about the same. Other Chaos articles could still use work, notably Horus Heresy (which is way too in-depth and in-universe) and Chaos Space Marines.--DarthBinky 22:52, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
- It appears the articles for the nine Chaos Legions (Black Legion (Warhammer 40,000), Death Guard, Emperor's Children, Word Bearers, Iron Warriors, World Eaters, Thousand Sons, Night Lords, Alpha Legion) need cleanup too. All appear to be very in-universe, and in most cases are rehashes of the Adeptus Astartes articles (they may even be just copies of them- I don't have the articles handy to check); some even contained actual game rules, which should be a major no-no (if it isn't already). I removed the game rules, but the articles could still use work. --DarthBinky 14:14, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
