    • Wait a sec...I don't know if I missed discussion earlier, or what, but why do these templates add articles to a category? Wouldn't it just end up adding the talk page, as opposed to the article itself, to the template? And, even if it placed the actual article into the correct category, don't we want to avoid categorizing all UT-related articles both in the main UT category in addition to a subcategory? — Rebelguys2 talk 07:29, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
Good question! I borrowed the concept from the Wikipedia:WikiProject Indigenous peoples of North America concept. Adding the template does in fact add the article to a category. We can decide ahead of time if that would be the existing UT category, or a new category that relates to the project specifically. In the case of the WPIPNA project, there was no single categor in existence, so it made more sense. My suggestion would be that (1) I disable the auto-add feature until all exisitng articles are tagged. (2) Then I re-enable auto-tagging so that future articles get categorized (3) sub-categorization of future articles would still occur manualy. Johntex\talk 07:52, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
I think I know what was making me raise my eyebrows. The NWPIPNA template doesn't touch anything in the main namespace; it adds only article talk pages into Category:WikiProject Indigenous peoples of North America, rather than articles themselves into a category for articles. Likewise, we should keep this template from putting talk pages into Category:University of Texas at Austin, and restrict it to placing talk pages into something like Category:Wikiproject for The University of Texas at Austin. Most Wikiprojects don't bother with category inclusion at all; it doesn't hurt, though, as long as we make sure not to combine the main namespace and the talk namespace into one big, unorganized mess. — Rebelguys2 talk 08:12, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Tagging

OK - I changed the template to add Talk pages to a new category automatically. This will be useful since it will be flat and it will be easy to watch as a Watchlist. I'm going to go ahead and use Option1 to tag articles, we can always change the template later, and the articles will automatically show the new template. Johntex\talk 03:51, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
