This page and its subpages contain their suggestions; it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians. If you would like to help, please inquire on the talk page and see the to-do list there.

[edit] Title

WikiProject on MusicBrainz

[edit] Scope

The goal of this project is to link each artist in the MusicBrainz database to Wikipedia and vice versa. For example: Weezer has relationship with wikipedia and our Weezer page has a link to the corresponding information on MusicBrainz.

[edit] Parentage

This wikiproject is the malformed child of at least WikiProject Music and no one else claims responsibility. The following WikiProjects could also be considered parents:

No classification of this project has been defined.

[edit] Goals

  1. Link every artist and album Wikipedia Page to it's counterpart on MusicBrainz.
  2. Link every MusicBrainz artist and album that has a wikipedia page to the appropriate Wikipedia page.

[edit] Tasks

  1.  ?

[edit] Adopt an article

Similar to the Collaboration of the week, but on a smaller scale, you might want to "adopt" an article. This would involve doing the research, writing, and picture-taking (if possible) for either a non-existent article or a stub. Of course, everyone else can still edit an adopted article, and you can work on other things too, but the idea is to find a focus for a while, to try and build up the number of quality articles the Project has produced.

[edit] Templates

All the templates use the same syntax:

{{MusicBrainz artist|id=31e7b30b-f960-408f-908b-c8e277308eab|name=Susumu Hirasawa}}
{{MusicBrainz album|id=5e06ebf6-f5c2-42ef-8b52-2adfc304b2cc|name=Paranoia Agent Original Soundtrack}}
{{MusicBrainz track|id=5bcf21f3-41bb-49b0-a290-6b0eb468b20c|name=Encyclopedia}}

There is also a wikilink template:

{{MusicBrainz wiki|WikiPedia}}
{{MusicBrainz wiki|MusicBrainz}}

There are also userboxes:

{{User MusicBrainz}}
Image:MusicBrainz Tagger icon.png This user is a MusicBrainz moderator.
{{User WikiProject MusicBrainz}}
↑Project members are encouraged to use this one.→

And here is the project notice to be put on talk pages (mostly on templates and MB related articles (all 4 or 5 of em):

MusicBrainz

This article is part of WikiProject MusicBrainz, an attempt to comprehensively link MusicBrainz and Wikipedia resources. If you would like to participate, you can edit the article attached to this page, or visit the project page for more details on the projects.
