Mixed Martial Arts article improvement drive is part of the WikiProject on Mixed Martial Arts and is a periodic collaboration to improve mixed martial arts articles to featured article status. Past collaborations are found on the history page, while removed nominations may be found on the removed nominations page. Previous winners that have gone on to become featured articles can be found at Featured collaborations.

Nomination and voting

Articles to be improved can be nominated by registered users in the "nominations" section below, with an explanation of what work is needed. To nominate an article, you can copy the template that you will below. Please do not nominate articles involved in edit wars. At the end of a voting period, the article with the most support votes is chosen. Opposing votes are not counted, the nomination is an approval voting. In case of a tie, the candidate that was nominated first wins. You can vote for as many articles as you like. As with any other vote on Wikipedia, sockpuppets are banned.

Renominating

An article that is removed from the nominations list for failing to receive the required number of votes by the stipulated date is able to be renominated immediately, though it will still be displayed on the current removed nominations page.

The project currently possesses no Featured Articles.

Considerations for nominations

• Giving reasons as to why an article should become the MMA AID may convince others to cast their vote.
• Can the wider MMA/fightsports community easily contribute to the article? Or is it something only a small number of people will know about?

[edit] PRIDE Fighting Championships

Nominated December 11, 2006; needs at least 3 votes by December 18, 2006

Reason: PRIDE is considered the world's biggest promotion and the article is in a shockingly terrible state. People do their best and try to make changes but a rapid and expansive overhaul is in order and that can only be done through a collaborative effort. So many people are passionate about this promotion and there is a wealth of sourceable information.

[edit] Ultimate Fighting Championship

Nominated December 11, 2006; needs at least 3 votes by December 18, 2006

Reason: It is one of the best articles we have and is about the biggest MMA promotion in the Western Hemisphere; the Kleenex of the MMA world. As a result, this article would require mainly tweaks, a lot of sourcing work and smart expansions to raise its standards. This may be less work but I think there's a lot less glory in searching for a supporting source for the evolution of the UFC rules.

Reason: Improvement of the flagship article has always been the main priority of this project, yet the article has stalled at b-class. The importance of the article really goes without saying.

Reason: One of the few fighters that is genuinely all-around liked and is the only person to have ever won a UFC belt in two weight divisions. Currently rated as B-class but I think it looks closer to start class, could use vast improvement.

Reason: Hansen is a highly ranked Lightweight who is very competitive and popular. The article looks terrible and is in desperate need of some work.
