CURRENT FOCUS

Make Halo: Combat Evolved a featured article! Completed!

TO DO

  • Fix unencyclopedic tone in map articles (Multiplayer in Halo: Combat Evolved and List of multiplayer maps in Halo 2). These list articles seem to be written like a game guide, and should be free of any game tips, inside jokes, or irrelevant information (in other words, no original research!). Sentences like "The warthog is also known as the Puma by some gamers" should be made into "A gag in the machinima Red vs. Blue referred to the Warthog as the "Puma," due to its purported resemblance to the animal."
  • Make List of multiplayer maps in Halo 2 a featured list
  • Promote Halo 2 to good article standards
  • Make List of Halo series characters a featured list
  • Possibly change Multiplayer in Halo: Combat Evolved back into a list after cleaning up content above

Contents

[edit] Project overview

[edit] Goals

  1. To advance Halo 2 to featured article status.
  2. To craft well-written and properly organized profiles for all relevant characters, races, technology, devices and other notable items in the Halo universe.
  3. To create a consistent look for Halo-related articles.
  4. To streamline the navigation of Halo-related articles.

[edit] Scope

  • This WikiProject aims primarily to improve and organize articles relating to the Halo series and all its spin-offs. It attempts to coordinate the writing efforts, organize and create standards for making good articles. It endeavours to create a good reference for the Halo universe.
  • Even though all topics will be worked on, this project will make a particular effort regarding the main game articles.
  • We do not need fancruft or pages on minor things, such as Flash clone.

[edit] Adoptions

You might want to "adopt" an article. This would involve doing the research and writing for either a non-existent article, a stub or just an article in general that you are interested in. Of course, everyone else can still edit an adopted article, and you can work on other things too, but the idea is to find a focus for a while, to try and build up the number of quality articles the Project has produced. You can also adopt an article if the work on it is primarily yours, but allow others to work on it in the best of Wiki spirit (in other words, you want to keep a close eye on it).

To adopt an article, sign your name next to the article in the list above with three tilde marks (~) to let everyone know that you have adopted that article.

DYN has a 72 hr. time limit from the creation of the article.

[edit] Requests

I would like to make a "Human Weapons of Halo 2" page if possible. (I am fairly new to this process so I just wanted to ask before I decided to do it). Thanks.--CorecPano 22:10, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

I put a request for Today's Featured Article for Halo: Combat Evolved. Please edit to make it better at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/requests. bibliomaniac15 04:36, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

guys this whole thing is null and void- if you didnt know already theres already WHOLE WIKA FOR HALO. (http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page) it has more information then you guys could possibly surpass. the Article on main wikipedia should be a stump with a link to Halopedia.

Halo is a noteworthy game that deserves to be on Wikipedia. Just because there is a Wiki devoted for it, doesn't mean Wikipedia will stop covering it, no matter how well their articles surpass ours in quality. For example, if there was a Wiki devoted to physics, that wouldn't mean that all the physics pages should be deleted. bibliomaniac15 23:26, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
And as the content of Halo.wikia.com is available under GFDL, their content can be used, reducing the redundancy of writing the articles twice. Really, it's a good thing that there's multiple wikis available for Halo, or indeed any subject. guiltyspark 13:45, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
