Older removed nominations: 2005 - June 2006
[edit] Eusébio (2 votes in 7 days)
Arguably one of the greatest footballers ever, there is much more to say on this.

[edit] CAF Champions League 4 Votes in 14 days
Africas premier club football event. Should be on an equal footing atleast with articles like UEFA Champions League.

[edit] FA Cup Final 1872 2 Votes in 7 Days
- It's only a stub which was started today.
- The FA Cup is one of the biggest tournaments around. The final of the very first one should exist.

- Is there much information available on this? Philc TECI
- My sentiments exactly - what else can be added, apart from trivia which will need quite a bit of web-trawling to find and verify. Kingfisherswift 17:41, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
- Check the report that I added. There might be something there that either of you might add. Kingjeff 17:43, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] FC Basel (2 Votes in 7 Days)
- History section starts from 1960 when it should start from 1893.
- There are a lot of red links in the player section.
- There is nothing about their Stadium(s), supporters, records and mangers/head coaches.
- Is there any other wikipedia articles that can be put under a "see also" section?
- A section about their main rival can be added.

[edit] FIFA Women's World Cup 2007 and FIFA Women's World Cup 2007 qualification (2 Votes in 7 Days)
This is a major FIFA tournament and should be prepared with a high quality standard. The qualification stage is currently in progress and should be maintained as a good page along with the tournament page.

- Improving these articles should also help to improve the quality of other women's football articles. E.g. 'wf2' templates need creating for all women's national football teams.
[edit] Fabio Cannavaro (1 vote in 7 days)
Since this is the article of the FIFA World Cup winning captain, it has less information then the rest of the italian squad.

[edit] Joachim Löw (1 vote in 7 days)
He is the new head coach for Germany. There is very little on his playing and coaching careers. There seems to be some inaccurate statistics on his playing career.

[edit] Cork City F.C. (2 votes in 7 days)
The article needs some clean up.

[edit] Owen Hargreaves (2 votes in 7 days)
- The article is not entirely written in the formal tone expected of an encyclopedia entry.
- References are needed.

[edit] David Trézéguet (4 Votes in 14 Days)
This is almost small enough to be a stub. There should be more.

- A player of his class should have a longer article 20:23, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
- This is a very well known player and it has a little information it needs more Chupu 20:36, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] FA Youth Cup (3 votes in 14 days)
Ridiculously short and untidy - so much more can be done with this article, e.g. first/second leg scores in finals, trivia section, records etc.

[edit] Ruhrstadion (1 vote in 7 days)
- It's a stub. The stadium is used for top flight football in Germany. It should be considerably longer.

[edit] Bayern Munich Junior Team (1 vote in 7 days)
The main thing that nees to be done is to add more info. Bayern Munich Junior Team is a top Junior Team in Germany and should have much more in the article.

[edit] English football on television (1 vote in 7 days)
- Currently reads more like Manchester United on television.
- Support:
- Oldelpaso 20:26, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
- Comments:
- It began as an unencyclopedic essay on Man Utd's popularity due to TV as part of the Glory Hunter article. (old version). Some time after the split the article title was changed from Television and the commercialisation of football in England to English football on television (which I disagreed with). Perhaps the MU part could be moved back to Glory Hunter? Slumgum T. C. 12:22, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] CONCACAF Champions' Cup 2002 (1 vote in 7 days)
- Mostly needs formatting, wiki-linking
- Tables are all different sizes
- Apply any other competition template standards

[edit] Watford F.C. (3 votes in 14 days)
- A good article, but not the standard of other premiership teams. I nominated it once before, but due to the World cup being on at the time it didn't receive much work, so I feel it should be renominated.

[edit] David Villa
- Nominated 30 August 2006; needs at least 3 votes by 6 September 2006
- Reason:
Quite short and unstructured for an article on a player of repute and recent track record.
- 25 goals(2nd top scorer) last season in UEFA's top seeded league.
- 3 world cup goals inspite of not even starting all of the 4 matches he played in.
- With Valencia playing Champions League this season, if the player lives up to his billing, there would be lot of visits to the english article on him.

- Comments:
- Received a third vote a day late.
[edit] Nouvelle Fédération-Board member's teams
- Nominated 31 August 2006; needs at least 3 votes by 7 September 2006
- Reason:
Near enough every team on this list has no information or information verging on the lower side of ultra-sub-basic. Though not strictly 1 article, I'm sure a lot can be offered to the lot of them. The teams in question:
Non-FIFA Football Teams

[edit] Football at the 1996 Summer Olympics - Men's team squads (3 votes in 14 days)
[edit] List of European football managers (2 votes in 7 days)
Something that, with a bit of work, could easily become a Featured List. It's something that everyone could pop into, do couple of rows, then go off and do something else!
[edit] F.C. Internazionale Milano (5 votes in 14 days)
[edit] Ernst Happel (2 votes in 7 days)
One of the best managers from the past, becoming a legend at almost every club he showed up. The main issues of his career are discribed, but are in need of a huge improvement and much more detail then what's written right now.
[edit] Jim Baxter (1 vote in 7 days)
Arguably the best Scottish footballer ever, and in his time one of the best players in the world. The article is far too short and doesn't provide many statistics or detailed information of his career.
[edit] Heysel Stadium disaster
[edit] Marcus Allbäck
Part of the Swedish national team, and UCL participants F.C. Copenhagen. The article is far too short and doesn't provide many statistics or datailed information of his career.
[edit] Roberto Baggio
A poor article about one of the greatest footballers ever, the last Italian to win the Golden Ball. Great if improved to FA.
[edit] Czech Republic national football team
Same grounds as Uruguay team. Also would like to menton that there are literally hundreds of National Team Articles which are ridiculously short - Maybe we should organise some sort of mass improvement?
[edit] Tobias Linderoth (3 votes in 14 days)
Very short for the midfield dynamo and vicecaptain for Sweden and F.C. Copenhagen-captain. He is a great player and has competed for Sweden at the last two World Cups.
[edit] Volkswagen Arena (2 votes in 8 days)
It's just a stub. It's a football stadium that host the 5th best league in Europe and a league that has unmatched attendance in Sports. There must be something to add despite only being 5 years old.
[edit] Weserstadion (2 votes in 8 days)
It's just a stub. It's a football stadium that host the 5th best league in Europe and a league that has unmatched attendance in Sports. This stadium holds the team to last dethrone Bayern Munich. There must be some scoring record or something that can be added.
[edit] Åge Hareide (1 vote in 7 days)
Horrible article. Could easily be expanded, and lists replaced with prose.
[edit] José Mourinho (1 vote in 7 days)
Probably currently the best football coach in the world: In his first 2 complete seasons as a manager, he won 2 Portuguese championships, 1 Portuguese Cup, a Champions League and a UEFA Cup with FC Porto. Then, two English Championships in two years. A very dividing and controversial figure: either you like him or hate him; called by some as an arrogant, by others as a genius. He deserves a better article. He's one of the main figures of the sport in the world.
[edit] Duncan Ferguson (1 vote in 7 days)
[edit] Alf Ramsey
This article, about England’s greatest football manager, has been improved a lot over the past few months, but still needs vast improvement. e.g. No infobox; his playing career, both at club and international level, is covered very sketchily; and the whole section on his career as England manager could do with a acomplete re-write to remove a lot of the POV stuff.
[edit] Celtic F.C.
Just list upon list upon list, and the only thing before 2003 is a link to History of Celtic F.C., which could be merged in and trimmed down anyway. Although a good article anyway, it just needs a bit of fine tuning, and this is the best way to do it.
[edit] Gay Football Supporters Network (3 votes in 14 days)
Small article on a nationwide organisation that works closely with English Football Association in a anti-homophobia campaign & provides a forum for homosexual football fans. Now the subject of as much focus as the anti-racism campaign in the 1980s. Possibly the largest LGBT-associated football organisation in the United Kingdom. Requires minor expansion (especially Campaigning section) & currently has few links from other articles.
[edit] Asociación Deportiva Carmelita
This article is in the status of a stub, so it may be needed to be expanded where the status of the article can be updated to the next level, I know that it may not generate the support, but at least I try to help this Costa Rican team.
