You made it. This is the place to plan a massive Wikiproject about Baseball, including every aspect of the game. If you ever picked up a bat and glove, watched a game, or lost in Little League, this is the place for you.

Some Wikipedians have formed a WikiProject to better organize information in articles related to baseball. This page and its subpages contain their suggestions; it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians. If you would like to help, please inquire on the talk page and see the to-do list there.

[edit] Goals

This WikiProject aims to create standards for the different sets of baseball-related articles, from statistics to histories to players, venues, and strategies. Specifically, we need standards for:

  1. Teams (Major league, minor league, and other)
    1. Team info (template)
      • "Main rivals" should be deleted on sight!!
    2. Team history (abridged)
      1. Separate link to detailed history (when appropriate)
    3. Current roster (template)
    4. Retired numbers & HoFers
    5. Links to more info (template)
      1. Award winners & league leaders
      2. Team records
        • Current records should be deleted on sight.
      3. Players of note (non-HoFers)
        1. Team's HoF
      4. Broadcasters
      5. Managers & ownership
      6. Post-season series
  2. Stadiums (history extending beyond baseball)
    • This seems to have been already tackled(?)
  3. Biographies (from players to managers to owners)
    • This seems to be a separate project
  4. World Series
    1. Other postseason series
      1. Regular season play-offs
  5. Leagues & Divisions
  6. Defunct teams
    • These seem to be really neglected
  7. Defunct leagues
  8. Miscellaneous

Hopefully, each of these article types will get their own template infobox to be applied and will be organized. Baseball articles in Wikipedia seem to be, in general, fairly extensive and well-written already. It's just a matter of organization.

[edit] A Wiktionary baseball effort

I've had a personal effort going in the Wiktionary to add baseball lingo. There are over 300 entries now, but it is far from a comprehensive baseball dictionary. Please add more as you see fit. Brholden 22:39, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Template & Userbox

I was thinking that people might find these interesting if they wanted to put these on their userpages.
