Welcome to the WikiProject Airports Collaboration of the Fortnight! This effort seeks to identify articles within the scope of the WikiProject—including large international airports, reliever airports, small general aviation airports, remote aerodromes, military air bases, closed or abandoned airports, historically significant airports and everything in between—that require improvement. Every fortnight, a single article will be selected as the collaboration and everyone will work to improve it as much as possible.

at the bottom of the list of candidates, filling in the name of the article and the nomination text (which should indicate why the article would benefit from a collaboration and what needs to be improved).

Please remember to add collaboration-candidate=yes to the {{AirportProject}} project banner at the top of the article's talk page (see the project banner instructions for more details on the exact syntax).

[edit] Candidates

[edit] Munich International Airport

This is perhaps one of the busier airports in the world, though I don't have those statistics at the moment. It do know that it was awarded the World Airport Award 2005 by Skytrax, however. This article should be one of the cornerstones of the WikiProject.

Unfortunately, it is only a start-class article and leaves much to be desired. The article is extremely listy without much meat, having very little prose. There is no section on the architecture at all, and it is very short on pictures for an article of its length. There are very few references in the article and only two lines in the external links section. I feel that this would be a prime article for the very first collaboration of this project!

[edit] First Flight Airport

While looking at these nominations I thought, without this airport and the trailblazing actions of the Wright Brothers we would not have other airports to write on. Looking at the list of airports, First Flight was actually a REDLINK until this morning when I created the page. It is only a stub at this point in time due to the fact that I need to get ready for work shortly but I think that this would be an easy one to make into FA status fairly quickly. With the wealth of information that is readily available, I think that this should have no problem becoming at least GA status within a week! Rob110178 10:17, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

Sounds like a good choice, as it's incredibly important to the project. I hadn't though of choosing one of the most historical airports of all time. However, I'm wondering if there's really enough current information to get it to featured article status. My feeling is that it would be mostly a history section. What do you think? thadius856talk|airports|neutrality 03:25, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Current collaboration

The next collaboration will be selected on Monday, December 18. The current time is 10:59, December 16, 2006.

[edit] Maintenance

At the beginning of every fortnight, a new collaboration article should be selected. This should generally be the candidate with the most support (and the oldest candidate in case of a tie).

To archive the current collaboration:

  1. Remove {{WPAirports Collaboration}} from the top of the current collaboration article.
  2. Add the current article to the bottom of the history section.
  3. Move the current article's nomination text to the archive.

To select the new collaboration:

  1. Add {{WPAirports Collaboration}} to the top of the new article.
  2. Move the new article's nomination text to the "Current collaboration" section.
  3. Update Wikipedia:WikiProject Airports/Collaboration/Current to point to the new article.
  4. Replace collaboration-candidate=yes with past-collaboration=<start date>–<end date> in the {{AirportProject}} project banner at the top of the new article's talk page.
  5. Add {{subst:Wikipedia:WikiProject Airports/Collaboration/Notice|Name of article}} ~~~~ to the talk pages of users who supported the new article.
