[edit] User page award - a thank you
Thanks for the award. I will try and re-enter the Esperanza User Page award once I have fixed some little bugs with my user pages. --tgheretford (talk) 19:40, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Re: Semi-protect function
Hi. I'm not an admin but I was wondering if this would still allow me to semi-protect certain pages that have been vandalised quite often within the past few days. If not, how could I go about having this assigned to articles? Wikiwoohoo 20:01, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
- Hello! Take your business case for semi-protection to Wikipedia:Requests for page protection. It will be assessed and granted/refused after a discussion. (aeropagitica) 20:12, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] BBC WikiProject: BBC2 idents
I noticed there wasn't a page in existence relating to the BBC2 idents of 1991-2001, so I would like to start by creating a page for this. However, if it's okay, I request help with supplying the pictures as I'm not entirely sure how to use this yet, and don't wish to make any copyright blunders. If you, or someone else, can help when I'm done I'll appreciate it. Thanks. - Psychic Potato 10:56, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for that. I also used MHP [1] for the Paper Cut-out and Crystal Ball pictures. I'll continue to make some more progress tomorrow. - Psychic Potato 16:13, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
I agree with your recent edits, a few details which I missed out first time round. However, could there be a Copper Cut-Out image with the older BBC logo perhaps, as it looks out of place? Also, I think there should be a section on Christmas & special programme specific idents such as Red Dwarf Night. If either of us has the time, it would make a reasonable addition. -- Psychic Potato 10:37, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

I wish you luck for the good article renomination. --tgheretford (talk) 21:10, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
Agreed, excellent work done on the BBC News 24 article :). Now just to get BBC News to GA status (its a GAC at the moment). RHB 21:44, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks
For your kind welcome, I've been to the meeting page and looked around. I still feel new, it will take me a while to learn what to do and the right way to do it, but I hope to become an avid contributer. At the moment though, I'm inundated. Dfrg.msc 1 . 2 . [edit] Image:BBC Jane Hill.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:BBC Jane Hill.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. - crz crztalk 16:55, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Other images
The same applies to Image:BBC Robert Peston.jpg, Image:BBC Rob Bonnet.jpg, Image:BBC Louise Minchin.jpg, Image:BBC Matthew Amroliwala.jpg, Image:BBC Jamie Owen.jpg as to Jamie Owen. There may be others... All these fail the first fairuse criterion because the subjects are living and free images are obtainable. - crz crztalk 17:01, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
- You misunderstood the policy. Where the subject is living, not incarcerated etc. and therefore reasonably available, fair use is not permitted by foundation policy. We may either ask the subject for a photo directly or stalk s/him and snap one. See here - crz crztalk 17:51, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Userpage banner
If you don't mind my asking, what program did you use to create that banner and is it available for Mac? I'd like to create something similar for my userpage. Good luck with the RfA! ~ Mike (Talk) 00:07, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Your RfA
Hi Wikiwoohoo. I just wanted to give you a little encouragement regarding your RfA. I don't think you'll be successful this time around, but given a little more time and experience, a second try will be better received. (I don't think you were lying about your old username; really that whole accusation sounded weird to me.) Let me know if you have questions at all; I'm here to help. --Fang Aili talk 15:10, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your note. No problem. Just seeking to clarify and understand. I tend to be a little too blunt sometimes. Cheers, :) Dlohcierekim 18:24, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Request for Adminship
Your request for adminship has now closed; it is my regretful duty to inform you that it did not achieve consensus. I must say, however, that it was one of the better discussed RFAs I have seen recently, and was a much more difficult one to close. Many good points were made on both sides, and I felt that some of the reasons set forth for opposition were insufficient; I came very close to the extremely rare action of publicly striking !votes. Unfortunately, when considered as a whole, there simply was not consensus for a promotion. I hope that you will keep up your good work, be encouraged by the positive feedback, shrug off those who sought to silence your positive contributions, and grow from the constructive criticism. I believe that if you try again in the future you will be successful. Best wishes, Essjay (Talk) 02:00, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
- If I may butt in, "Hear, hear!" Cheers, :) Dlohcierekim 13:37, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Close election
I am sorry about your candidacy. However, I hope you continue your strong contributions to the encyclopedia. I was glad to see the marked improvement in the responses to your candidacy. I am only one voter and my opinion should be regarded as such. Have you ever looked at yourself here. That is why I gave my comments about only BBC articles. IMO it would be great if you had other contributions to make. However, it is likely that continued hard work of any kind will be appreciated. TonyTheTiger 23:41, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Your thanks
Dear Wikiwoohoo, Sorry for your RfA. I appreciate to see you again in a second. My support will be with you again.Regards.MustTC 20:07, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
- I also want to say "You're welcome" - and add a note: you were one of the most, well, active participants I've seen in an RfA, and I suspect it didn't help you. Sometimes it's best to just let the process happen as it will, acknowledging that there will always be some negative votes and comments, and only jumping in to respond to questions or clear misunderstandings that others (give them a chance) fail to correct. The alternative - ongoing involvement - can be seen by some folks as bordering on obsessive-compulsive, and (perhaps subconsciously) they may think "omigod what happens if I get on the wrong side of this pit-bull when he has admin powers?" John Broughton | Talk 21:22, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
-
- Apologies not needed for me - I didn't have any problem with it - just sayin'. You might want to ask a couple others their opinion, that's all. John Broughton | Talk 21:32, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] nice try
Well, it was a good effort. I hope you got something positive out of the RFA grinder. Having had a nomination be close but no consensus, I know how it can be. Hopefully it will point out to you areas you can improve and your next one will be stellar. Hell it's been like....8 months since my RFA I think, and I still don't feel 100% to re apply. Anyway good luck. ⇒ SWATJester On Belay! 20:43, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
Oh, PS: You should try admin coaching if you haven't already. I did, and it's helped already. ⇒ SWATJester On Belay! 20:44, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Your RFA
Hope you aren't discouraged. As someone who initially opposed then changed to neutral I was tempted to change to support based on some of the oppose reasoning. The issue regarding your previous username seemed odd given that as others pointed out you could easily have said nothing and as they say ignorance is bliss. Being an admin can be hard work, leads to increased scrutiny and therefore increased criticism, there are good arguments (for the sake on the encyclopaedia and the individual) that good editors should concentrate on just that and ignore the admin stuff, though if you feel you can add more to wikipedia by being an admin good luck when you next run. --pgk 22:16, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
- Don't worry about the RfA. Your RfA was awfully close to being successful, and I have no doubts that your future RfA will be a complete success. =) Nishkid64 22:39, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] You're Welcome
I hope to run for RFA in a month or two, I hope I can get that many support votes. :-) Just H 02:01, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
- From me as well. I'd have put you through, perhaps in a few months eh? Dfrg.msc 1 . 2 . Editor Review 04:42, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] IFD discussions
Hi, could you please refrain from removing "completed" nominations from IFD discussion pages? The reason being that if one were trying to figure out why an image was being deleted (from Special:Log for example) and came to the page looking for the discussion, one should be able to find it there. Thanks. howcheng {chat} 17:36, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Concordia Newsletter
Concordia is currently trying to relaunch. I, and all the members of the ex-council, wish to welcome new members to the group. We are a group who aim to promote remaining civil, in an environment where messages can easily be interpretated wrongly.
[edit] Help out now!
- Try and help people remain civil! Talk to them, and help them in any way possible. Do not be afraid to use the talk page.
- Give people the Civility Barnstar.
- Make and spread some Wikitokens so people know there are people to help if they want assistance.
- Add banners or logos to your userpage to show your support.
- Suggest some ideas! Add 'em to the talk page.
We are a community, so can only work though community contributions and support. It's the helping that counts.
[edit] Decision Making
The council expired one month ago, but due to the current position of the group the current council will remain until the position of the group can be assessed, and whether it would be sensible to keep Concordia going. For most decisions, however, it will be decided by all who choose to partake in discussions. I am trying to relaunch because of the vast amounts of new members we have received, demonstrating that the aims are supported.
If you wish to opt of of further talk-page communications, just let us know here.

[edit] Hello there!
Hello! I was wondering if you would be interested in joining a WikiProject known as WikiProject Abandoned Articles. This WikiProject is concerned with getting abandoned articles (eg:articles not visited in more than a long time which has not yet been decided upon) to be visited more often. Thanks!!
