Sorry, would have protest the reversion on "Eye" here, but I mistook your username as being some kind of systemic bot or something.
[edit] Reverted Mithraism changes
Is there a reason why you reverted my changes to the Mithraism article?
I note that the user 'Wetman' reverted my change to the Mithras article to restore the AD/BC that he had edited out, and posted an insult on the talk page for that IP address (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:84.66.148.69). I don't profess to know much about Wikipedia (I do know rather a lot about Mithras), or how this should be handled, but must I endure this? He appears to be imposing his own POV on a lot of religion-related articles. Is there any moderation of this sort of activity? 84.65.221.121 21:48, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Hideyoshi's invasions of Korea
While it's good to be enthusiastic about improving the encyclopedia, your threat of changing the title of the "Hideyoshi's invasions of Korea" article to your preferred title "by any means" is not acceptable behavior here. Should you follow through on your threat, you will be blocked from participating on WIkipedia. Trying to force your opinion on others by threatening to engage in such tactics is not compatible with the official policies to assume good faith and to be civil. Please continue to make a concerted effort to resolve any disputes in a civil manner, especially as it seems that most of the other editors working on the article have begun coming around to a consensus. [edit] Civility
It is important to keep a cool head, especially when responding to comments against you or your edits. Personal attacks and disruptive comments only escalate a situation; please keep calm and remember that action can be taken against other parties if necessary. Attacking another user back can only satisfy trolls or anger contributors and leads to general bad feeling. Please try to remain civil with your comments. Thanks! Try not to accuse others of "conspiracy," and have please remember the good faith policy. Also, it would be nice to avoid leaving misleading comments, like "consensus has not been reached" when you are in a superminority. —LactoseTIT 17:16, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
I don't mean conspiracy that way, and if you really advocate civility, don't readily give out warnings like that. And from my point of view, consensus hasn't been reached. (Wikimachine 17:21, 4 September 2006 (UTC))
- If you don't mean words "that way," then don't use them in an ambiguous manner. In any case, read Wikipedia:Consensus for the definition of consensus in use at Wikipedia. —LactoseTIT 18:04, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Why I support Hideyoshi's invasions
(Response to your message on my talk page.) First, please don't forget that Korea was invaded and many, many were killed in the invasions. I know the image is unpleasant, but it's important to remember it the way it happened (as much as we can--so much history from that time is permanently lost). Second, Hideyoshi deserves the largest share of blame (or credit, I suppose) for the invasions. I think this is why most books do actually refer to it this way, and this is why most know it by this name. You can't have the heroes without having the troubles. On the surface, you might think people are arguing for a Japanese point of view title, but in reality they are actually painting the picture of what happened--and they are not trying to avoid saying that it was an outright invasion by Hideyoshi. When you actually have people admitting this is the most common name of the event, I don't see why you are trying to obscure the title. All too often (rightly or wrongly) Japanese are accused of whitewashing the truth with pretty words, but this time it seems we are doing it for them. Part of what makes me proud of Korean history is how people overcame the obstacles to become, for the most part, a respectable nation today. Komdori 13:56, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
- I left a response to your latest comments on my talk page. By the way, sorry for the flurry of PUI images--I was trying to clean up an article I found and realized they were tagged kind of in an odd way. Komdori 14:38, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

Right. Basically, permission has been given only to use the images on Wikipedia. The images have to be completely released into the public domain (or licensed under GDFL, which is basically the same thing) for us to use them, unfortunately. Herostratus 03:31, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Water Clock Made by Jang Young Sill.jpg
Can you ask him to clarify what he means? He said, "If it's up to me, I have to copyright to those pics I offered," which might mean he _wants_ to copyright them. I think he might have made a typo, though, and means wants to release the copyright. Also, someone added another picture to this page (a good one), so if he refuses it's not a big deal. - I have put another pictures of the water clock. I'd rather delete this picture. (Wikimachine 16:13, 13 September 2006 (UTC))
-
- The other picture... He clearly said that he intends to have no copyright, but is not sure if pictures of displays in a museum are copyrighted. So he said, if it's up to him, he would consider those copyrighted by the museum (pictures taken by himself), which is untrue.
-
- Komdori, those pictures are results of my hard work in searching the web. They can't be posted easily without copyright violations.

- P.S., how many administrators have reviewed his unblock request? (Wikimachine 16:26, 5 October 2006 (UTC))
His/her block log shows that he/she was blocked for 24 hours on 19:31, October 2, 2006 (UTC) while his/her edits to Talk:Korea started on 21:39, October 4, 2006 (UTC) after the block expired. My observation was correct at the time of reviewing his/her block. Anyway, block log entries are permanent, so there's nothing further I can do. Might also I suggest that you encourage your friend to create an account so that you can welcome them with {{User:Kukini/Welcome}} so that they can be fully aware of Wikipedia policies and guidelines. [edit] Oriental
I'm not sure if I'm responding properly to you but here goes. (My reply follows your messages.)
[edit] Oriental
Hi, this is Wikimachine. I saw your recent edits to the Oriental article, and even though your arguments were good, I suggest that you try to combine your additions to the existing paragraph instead of creating a separate paragraph of contradiction. Thanks for your efforts! (Wikimachine 04:34, 25 October 2006 (UTC))
Again, at the Oriental article, you put something I would consider nonsense, such as stuffs about American universities, how Asians take pride, etc. (Wikimachine 01:14, 2 November 2006 (UTC))
Please discuss before you edit. Your English is awkward & some of them are just complete nonsense. You don't put any reference to your claims. (Wikimachine 17:12, 2 November 2006 (UTC))
It is your opinion that my English is awkard and it is your opinion that some of what I say is complete nonsense. I respect and value your opinion. By the same token, you should be aware that others find your English awkward find some of what you have posted to be complete nonsense. For example, where do you support your claim about making English "the world's first culturally neutral language"? Even if you did support this claim, don't you think this argument belongs somewhere under "politically correct"?
In the forum, I think we can agree that it's important to stick to the facts. It's also important on unresolved issues to acknowledge both sides of an argument. I agree that many people think that Oriental is a derogatory term. But it's equally important to explain that many people do not think Oriental is a derogatory term. This is a question that cannot be settled between us. Admittedly, I am a wiki-newbie, so I'm willing to follow your lead, but I'm not going to stand for the dismissal of the opposing viewpoint. By the same token, I will not stand by while you post blatant bias. The headline "Objects not people" is an example of blatant and unsupported bias posing as a headline of some sort. There is no rationale provided for this opinion posing as a headline. The bottom line is I'm happy to follow your lead, but I will not let you post wrong-headed opinions in what is intended to be a fact-based neutral POV reference.

on the Mark Twain article, I restored the sentence you removed and labeled RVV. In the future, please refrain from labeling an edit RVV when it was nothing of the sort. [edit] Thank you
Thank you for the welcome. As you can see, I just tried to copy content from the U.S. Library of Congress Country Studies for South Korea (and North Korea), which are public domain. Eventually, I hope to get around to figuring out referencing and linking formats, but first, there's a lot more I would like to transfer to various Wikipedia articles first. In the mean time, please help me with the formatting if you have the time. I appreciate the welcome and the help!
[edit] Please help
Please take a look at Demographics of South Korea. I've been trying to add content from the U.S. Library of Congress Country studies, public domain content. I thought you were supposed to add reputable content, even if you didn't know Wikipedia formatting rules, so that others could improve it. Instead, one editor keeps just deleting it, changing his reasons every time. First, he thought it was copyright violation. It wasn't. Then he complained that it wasn't wikilinked. I added wikilinks. Now he says it's irrelevant, even though it's all demographics content directly from the demographics section of the country study. I don't know what his problem is. Please help, this is a very effective way to discourage contributors. WikiWitchWest 23:50, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome to the Military history WikiProject!
Hi, and welcome to the Military history WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to military history.
A few features that you might find helpful:

- Most important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
- We've developed a number of guidelines for article structure and content, template use, categorization, and other issues that you may find useful.
- The project's monthly newsletter will normally be delivered as a link, but several other formats are available.
There are a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—and wherever—you'd like:
- Additional reviewers for the military history peer review and A-Class review processes are always needed!
- Our requests page has extensive lists of requested articles, images, maps, and translations.
- All project members are invited to help with this fortnight's project collaboration.
- We have a number of task forces that focus on specific topics, nations, periods, and conflicts.
- The assessment department is working on rating the quality of every military history article in Wikipedia.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask one of the project coordinators, or any experienced member of the project, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! Kirill Lokshin 17:52, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Misato Katsuragi.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Fritz Saalfeld (Talk) 20:19, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Battle of Chingshanli
Battle of Chingshanli article keeps on being editted by this one Japanese Wikipedian Nanshu and uses Japanese sources for his infomation claiming its a farce and under-rates Japanese KIA/WIA and the end of the article is this: "This means that the only source that was said to support the Korean victory was a fiction." also looking at his edit history he is obviously very biased against China and VERY biased Against Koreans don't know if you can help anything but any help would be appreciated.
Also on Tsushima Island under Sovereignty claims by South Korea
"The Japanese government did not make any official responses to the city council's claim ,because its claim was very stupid. However, many Japanese feel that Korean is childish, passion-like people and hard to go together."
