Another Thank You

Hi, I'm just writing to thank you for your (entirely unexpected!) welcome message. Ironically, I'm only slightly "new" to Wikipedia, having made (admittedly minor) edits already... it just took me a long time to pick a username. So I'd already many of those articles, ha ha. Anyway, thank you for your friendliness! ..MrHumperdink 17:58, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)

You're welcome. It's always nice to be greeted to Wikipedia, and I hope you continue your work. Wikiacc (talk) 18:00, Jun 23, 2005 (UTC)

Yet another thank you, it is nice to be greeted :) Three 21:11, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Me too, thanks for the welcome links, i access from lotsa comps so its good tohave 'em all in one spot... Yay for tildes.Kilr0y 17:57, 26 July 2005 (UTC)

You welcomed me on my talk page as well. I'd allready been registered for two months, and had been making changes before that. I might not be too active, but I am not, and was not, by any means new. I'm wondering how you decided to leave a that welcome message for me, because I didn't exactly need it. :P The Computer Mutt 11:50, August 10, 2005 (UTC)

Sorry for not responding quickly. I didn't notice your comment until now.
I find people to welcome usually by looking for users without talk pages at the list of recent edits or my watchlist. If the user has not been particularly active, or has only made contributions recently, I will usually welcome the user.
If you thought yours was unneeded, I apologize and ask you to consider it a late welcome. :P --Wikiacc (talk) 18:40, August 16, 2005 (UTC)

re: some image copyright violation image of a train

My bad sir, allow m to apologise. I was pretty new at uploading images, and just uploaded them willy-nilly, so it's likely to be infriging. just delete it..... Supersaiyanplough|(talk) 08:34, 29 July 2005 (UTC)

Please remember to make sure images you upload in the future do not infringe. Thanks! --Wikiacc (talk) 12:28, July 29, 2005 (UTC)

Tsalagisation and deletion threats and ᎭᏡ ᎦᏧ ᎭᏢ ᎡᏤ?????

Do you have any idea how to get ahold of Etse and/or get another management type appointed for the Tsalagi Wikipedia, so at least a start can be made at replacing the static, outdated, woefully English content on the ᎤᎵᎮᎵᏍᏗ with at least a facsimile of ᏣᎳᎩ? Did you see the recent activity there with broadband speedy deletion notices? --Haruo 08:24, 2 August 2005 (UTC)

Node ue has discussed the deletion notices and Tsalagisation with me previously; see chr:User talk:Wikiacc and chr:User talk:24.251.198.251. Etse has not responded to recent messages, and has not been very active on any Wikipedia (last activity was deletion of own userpage in May 2005). (Etse is the only admin; see chr:Special:Listadmins.) As Etse is not contactable via the Wikipedia email system, I would draw the conclusion that contact is not possible. --Wikiacc (talk) 19:30, August 2, 2005 (UTC)

Why removing Chief Vann House picture?

I worked for National Park Service before and the pictures that they set were not "copyrighted" but as shown what the museums are. In fact, Rangers I worked with were given me pictures of Ford Theatre including one in my homepage. I have few pictures on my digital camera including Chief Vann House and the site of cemetry with two markers where the Battle of Adairsville was happened but I am not trust you with that but the pictures I have in digital camera are my copyright and let me know when I get "permission" to post them. I have another picture of Vann from local newsletter in 1980s. I believe that encyclopedia should have pictures of images to show educational lessons for people to learn. Removing Christ's picture off Christ Jesus or removing Star Trek's Enterprise off Star Trek Enterprise articles will be insulted to educational knowledge and culture no matter the policy you stated. This site does not pay me to post articles and pictures that most people needs. I post them as free to people who learn. If you want me to do, you pay me. Let me know about the pictures. I do not do free job for you and others of Wikipedia repeated. I am very angry that "discrimination" article does not recongize disabilites including deaf and blind people as an insult so you should change that too. Georgia discriminated FDR at Warm Spring when he was 39 years old because of his polio. I also try to work on other articles like Rydal, Georgia, home of my ancestor who was a founder of the church and Gallaudet University. If you choose to make a mistake, Wikipedia will be useless and worthless to educational system. I stated facts and pictures to prove that you destroyed. you are not educational guy, I guess. deaf discrimiantion, georgia-facts discrimianting, and more discriminations are not educated ways you made. I do not do "constributes" for wikipedia because I am not paid by you. I only do for people who seek for education and knowledge. "Uneducated persons are learning to be educated persons when they understand what the world meaning to them." Encyclopedias alway have pictures. You can erase Chief Vann picture off so I can upload my own picture wirh my copyright.

I could not make much sense out of your previous comment, so I apologize if my response is not relevant to your question.
Image:Chiefvann.jpg is a copyright violation, and as such is not permitted on Wikipedia. As per copyright policy, images suspected of copyright violation are not to be used in articles, regardless of the article's picture status.
You are encouraged to upload your own picture, as long as you own the copyright and it is licensed under a free license.
The latter part of your comment was not directly intelligible to me, but from what I understand, you are free to contribute to discrimination to add information concerning discrimination against those with disabilities, as long as it is properly written and referenced. (I do not understand your rationale for your wish that I make that contribution.) --Wikiacc (talk) 20:20, August 14, 2005 (UTC)

Image:ALBERTRO.JPG

I saw you removed the no source tag of the above image, citing Bridgeman Art Library v. Corel Corp. That doesn't apply in this instance, surely, since the image scanned is not public domain. Steve block talk 20:37, 8 September 2005 (UTC)

I apologize for my erronous edit summary; I had not noticed that it applied only on public domain works. It does not appear to me, however, that the fair use defense is affected by the source of the scan. If you can prove that I am incorrect in this aspect, please do so. (I know little relating to copyright law, so it is quite likely that you are correct.) --Wikiacc (talk) 20:53, September 8, 2005 (UTC)
Please see Wikipedia:Image use policy which states:
  • Always provide a detailed source for where the image came from, either a URL if it is from the web, or a name (or alias) and method of contact(i.e. Talk page, email, etc.) for the photographer.
I believe Wikipedia require a source for the scan because the person responsible for the scan may hold copyright on the scan. Hope that helps. Steve block talk 21:15, 8 September 2005 (UTC)
Thanks. I missed that. --Wikiacc (talk) 21:17, September 8, 2005 (UTC)

Iran naming dispute

Exactly how irrelevant was my discussion as a professional Iranist to the additions to the topic of Farsi/Parsi escapes me? Is it not rather rich of your cyberobsessed, professional dilettante kind to expunge what you deem fit without any scholastic understanding? Fine. As an academic, I felt I could make a valuable contribution to this among other pages. But despite the official latitude and, in fairness, commendable objectivity of most contributors and editors, there are not a few for whom this site is a powersite wherein they can achieve what they never could in public life. Power kicks for Infobahn saddos: the kind who sadistically persist in revising what one writes. To take the example of username Dbinder. Despite numerous attempts to delete dated information from New Delhi's airport page, he continues adding old airlines like Archana Airways and a never heard of carrier called Iberworld. Checking the Spanish website of this carrier, one discovers it does not operate to Delhi. And Dbinder, let me add, is conversant with Spanish. At least so it is proudly proclaimed on his webpage. So your lot may continue dishing out barnstars ad nausem and run things as you see fit. I prefer to do a Pilate and move on. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 213.121.151.146 (talkcontribs) 11:24, September 11, 2005 (UTC).

The discussion you added was not only a violation of NPOV (the cornerstone of Wikipedia policy) in its presentation of only the anti-Farsi view, it was irrelevant to the topic of Iran/Persia. While Persian/Farsi may be in some relation to Iran/Persia, it is not relevant to the article.
Underneath the edit box, there reads notices which, among other things, note that "If you do not want your writing to be edited mercilessly and redistributed at will, do not submit it." (emphasis mine.) Wikipedia's collaborative nature encourages such revision. If you believe that your contributions are simply reverted, rather than engaging in a pointless edit war, please cite your sources in the edit summary and the reverter will likely cease. (Also note that Dbinder speaking Spanish does not indicate knowledge of Spain-related topics)
Please note that barnstars are not simply dished out; they are given to worthy contributors only.
In comments, please do not make personal attacks. Your previous comment may be interpreted as a personal attack by some users.
If you choose to leave the project, please still keep in mind that your edits, if done with policy compliance and civility, will be welcomed here. --Wikiacc (talk) 01:36, September 12, 2005 (UTC)

Input on New River Template?

Wikiacc, I see you've commented on the need to upgrade {{River}} in the past. This week over at Template_talk:River we've been working out a new template to replace it, and we could use more feedback before we roll it and start moving rivers over. Please drop by and give us your $.02! Thanks, —Papayoung 06:12, 30 September 2005 (UTC)

#en.wikipedia.vandalism

Cool Cat is MIA - we are trying to get the anti-vandalism bot up and running, but we need various datafiles, such as #en.wikipedia.vandalism-lang.txt ; I think I remember that you used to run the bot at one time; if you still have any of the data files, please let us know. Thanks! JesseW, the juggling janitor 23:19, 5 October 2005 (UTC)

Sorry, I never ran the bot for that channel. Although I used the channel on occasion, I do not have any data related to its operation. Sorry! --Wikiacc (talk) 23:47, 5 October 2005 (UTC)

Your RfA Nomination: Accepting or not?

Are you accepting your nomination? You have to accept and answer the three questions presented to you before I can list it. Respond on my talk page if you can. :-) WikiFanaticTalk Contribs 00:11, 11 October 2005 (UTC)

I accept your nomination. --Wikiacc (talk) 21:29, 11 October 2005 (UTC)

Searching for an article

I recently wrote an article ( Raised from an Egg ). It is hosted on Wikipedia but as yet cannot be accessed unless searched for with the exact phrase Raised from an Egg (including capitals on the R and E). As of yet, this is the only way to get to the article (other than direct link from another article).

The article is very new, so if there is a standard practise of only allowing an article to be seen by the general public (who aren't giving the exact search term) after it has been verified as suitable, then there's no problem here.

It just seems a little strange.

Thanks —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Notch (talkcontribs) 08:37, 12 October 2005 (UTC).

There is no verification process before articles can be viewed and edited. All articles can only be accessed through search or a link from either another article or an external site, not just new ones. Hope this answers your question. --Wikiacc (talk) 19:33, 12 October 2005 (UTC)
