[edit] Patience
Hi. I saw that your last edit to the page was 13 minutes ago, quite a long time when talking about fixing mistakes in an article. You have made the same error (adding an extra column) two times before, errors which I had to fix because no one else did. I would advise you to not complain at me but instead take it as a note that you should use the preview button a lot more. However, I appreciate the time you are spending on improving our football related articles, so don't think that I don't want you here. :) Just don't add any extra columns. :P -- Elisson • Talk 02:44, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
- Time for me to be sorry. :) The quadrant stuff was due to the image not being reloaded to show the new version, I just saw two 14quadrant-shirts. Well, well. You have still messed up the lower part of the Sashes section, go have a look. ;) (just add another three "|":s (pipes) after the _whiterightsash and you've fixed it. ;) -- Elisson • Talk 00:34, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image Tagging Image:Liftlock.jpg
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Liftlock.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. cohesion★talk 01:13, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

- Go ahead and nuke it. It wasn't that good a pic and I'm gonna redo the page to match the format of the other German football clubs in any case. Thanks. Wiggy! 03:14, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Archiving
Do you agree with me Talk:Bayern Munich? Have you been annoyed by me at all? Kingjeff 22:49, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
- I've replied to your talk page (so you can archive it if you like!) :) Wiggy! 00:01, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
- Ha ha. feel free to ignore you for the rest of my natural life. How can I when you're one of the few half decent people on Wikipedia. :) Kingjeff 00:35, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

- Well good. Glad to see you took it all in the spirit it was intended and I hope it was of some use. Happy editing and all that. Wiggy! 00:14, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Wikipedia:German Wikipedians' notice board
Your name just popped up on my watchlist when you were editing my favorite football club and I thought I'd invite you to come to our brand-new noticeboard and post there whenever you need the attention of a German editor. If you know any other editors interested in Germany-related topics (or German-speaking editors in general), please point them to our board. Thank you, Kusma (討論) 04:47, 10 February 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the invite, I appreciate it. I'll pop by and have a look. I hope the edit to your team's page is more-or-less to your liking. I've been doing updates to the pages of German football clubs and related topics and have found it to be an interesting exercise. Wiggy! 05:01, 10 February 2006 (UTC)
- It looks like you did a really good job, thanks! I just made some minor fixes. I'm not a very big fan, so I can't really comment on many of the details, though. I saw you also recently edited Lokomotive Leipzig, a club in which I am also mildly interested. Did you know they hold the world record for attendance in a lowest-league game? Kusma (討論) 05:14, 10 February 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks back at you. It's fun to watch a page grow up a bit at a time. That's an interesting bit about the attendance at the Lok game, especially given that the lower league games never generate numbers like that. Impressive. A club with a history like their's deserves that kind of thing to come their way. You've motivated me to finish up some of what I started there by uploading some clean logos &etc. Wiggy! 05:26, 10 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Bayern Munich page
How well do you know Wikipedia policies and standards? Maybe this is the way you can contribute to the Bayern Munich article in stead of thinking of how to dealing with and complaning aboutOalexander. Kingjeff 17:10, 10 February 2006 (UTC)
- I know them well enough, thanks, and I'm a competent writer/researcher/etc. That's not an issue. I feel my complaints are legit, but haven't been pounding all over making a huge deal of thing with everyone. I point you again to the Arsenal FC page, which was a featured article. Read and really compare the two. Anyhow, don't go starting a riot on my part. I'm off contentedly doing my own thing and don't need the hassle. ;) Wiggy! 17:28, 10 February 2006 (UTC)
I know your complaints are ligitimate. I'm not going to start a riot over this. I just thought that this was a way you can contribute a lot. Kingjeff 17:31, 10 February 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry. Excuse my tone. Thanks for trying to be the peacemaker, I'll keep your suggestion in mind. Out of curiosity, do you have a favorite team? Wiggy! 17:33, 10 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Bayern Munich youth system article
Would you be able to help out with the Bayern Munich youth system article? Another user has said it needs gremmer improvement. I've also nominated the article at Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Article improvement drive. A vote or two would help. :) Kingjeff 00:41, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
- Who are you? Yeah, I'll have a look. Wiggy! 00:19, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
- Ummm. It's got a big copyright violation notice slapped on it. What's that about? is it scooped whole from somewhere? Wiggy! 00:21, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
- Part of it yes. I've restarted it at the link. What I've done is put the part that wasn't copyviolation.
[edit] Portal:Germany
I listed some of your recent articles in our "New articles" announcement section. If you don't want them to be displayed there, please remove them. If you like to have your articles displayed there, please add your next articles yourself. Thank you, and thanks for writing all these articles! Kusma (討論) 19:27, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for pointing the way. Much appreciated. Wiggy! 19:47, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Stahl Riesa
Hi, Wiggy. I just gave your article a proofread and it's looking very good. I was just wondering whether you saw that the image you meant to link created a red link. Would be great if you could fix that. Nice going! --Mmounties 23:58, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the assist. I've not yet uploaded a clean team logo file for Riesa and that's why its showing the red link. I'll probably do so sometime tonight. Keep well. Wiggy! 00:10, 21 February 2006 (UTC)
- Done, along with some historical logos. Wiggy! 23:21, 21 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] RSV Gottingen 05 logo
Why did you remove the umlaut from the image of the logo? Qero 18:42, 21 February 2006 (UTC)
- Typo. Couldn't find a clean logo so I re-cut it from scratch. I'll fix it. Thanks. Good eye. Wiggy! 18:46, 21 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] VfB Oldenburg
Hi Wiggy! May I ask you where your interest and knowledge about VfB Oldenburg and Göttingen 05 comes from? I am really amazed. --Marvins21 20:38, 21 February 2006 (UTC)
- I've been following the Bundesliga a bit, got interested in the German game, and decided I could make a contribution here at Wikipedia by updating the articles on German football clubs. So, starting with the A's ...
- You may have noticed I tag a link on each article for The Abeits Guide to German Soccer which is a great website run by a guy named John Dwyer. I use that or the German Wikipedia entry as a starting point for most of the articles, then visit the website for each team (some have really nicely done histories, some take themselves too seriously, others could care less) as well as a couple other German football sites, do a general web search for extra info, logos, etc., check with some reference books I have, put it all in a pot and stir. It's been a fun project.
- VfB Oldenburg and Göttingen 05 both have decent history sections on their home pages. Are you a fan of those clubs? I see you were the original Oldenburger and that I clipped some stuff that should be worked back in. Sorry.
- Thanks for the notice. I'm looking forward (hopefully) to a decent World Cup by the Germans this summer. Keep well. Wiggy! 21:07, 21 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Hamburger SV
- Can you vote for Hamburg SV on the Article improvement? It needs a lot of work and deserves to be the winning candidate. Kingjeff 14:47, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
- As an encyclopedia article it works well enough. There's an easy to follow club history that should be digestible for both fans and casual readers. I'm not big on achingly detailed articles that list all of the managers, tell you what they had for breakfast, and discuss whether or not that was a good decision. Nor do I think that an encyclopedia should evolve into a fan page - that's contrary to the neutral point of view policy of Wikipedia and that kind of thing can be linked to.
- Too much "stuff" and the loss of an easy to follow narrative and neutral tone significantly reduces the readability of an article and alienates users who simply are not interested in that level of detail. Adding material of that nature at the bottom of a general page under separate headings or sub-headings lets someone explore in depth without being so intense up front.
- I'm content to add stuff as I come across it, but not inclined to vote for a major fix. Go back and look at the versions of July, August, or even January and compare them (i.e. read them all through) to what's there now. There is considerably more material and it is still readable. Wiggy! 16:35, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] SK Rapid Wien
Just wanted to tell, you that I really like your edits. Thanks for improving on the writing style of the article. :) Roger W 17:25, February 27, 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks, I appreciate that! It'll motivate me to keep at it. You're a fan of the club? Keep well. Wiggy! 17:52, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
Yes I am. :) And I also wrote parts of the english article, but I like your phrasing much better. Roger W 20:28, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
- Great. You're a generous fellow. I picked up on a couple of Austrian clubs as I was doing updates on German clubs. It's been interesting. Thanks for letting me contribute. Wiggy! 21:25, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] TSV 1860 Munich and Templates
I deleted one of the stadium sections. And do you know how to make templates? I need them for wikipedia:WikiProject Germany/Article improvement drive -- Kingjeff 00:23, 2 March 2006 (UTC)
Okay.
I haven't had cause to build a template from scratch. The only one I ever put together was based on the football kit and club templates. I just took copies of those and modified them to make a field hockey kit.
I'd start with a copy of each of the necessary template files to your own personal page. Keep a clean original file, make copies and re-name those to whatever your project is and edit and test those. So the first part of the job is just a file management exercise.
From there I just did my coding by example from the original withour re-writing the thing from scratch. That's probably the best way for you to go. You'll also learn as you go that way. Wiggy! 00:46, 2 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] German Wikipedia
I'm aware of it now. How did it happen? Kingjeff 03:13, 2 March 2006 (UTC)
- It's been up a long time and is a well established project. Might have something to do with all the Germans around ...
- (Oops, that would be the portal that's been up, the other is relatively new. My mistake) Wiggy! 03:21, 2 March 2006 (UTC)
- I received notice and invites to various Germany related pages through my football articles and edits. Keep bumping into fans from various clubs. Wiggy! 03:16, 2 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] unstubbed!
Thanks for completing those stubs. For the Portal:Germany we treat completed stubs as new articles. No need to list them as unstubbed. :) btw, you're doing a great job. I've been proofreading some of your articles but they're pretty clean. Nice work! Happy Wiki-ing! --Mmounties (Talk) 03:46, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the help/pointers/pats. I'm only tagging stuff as unstubbed 'cause I don't want to be a glory hog after someone else did the original work. I guess it don't matter. Keep well. Wiggy! 22:26, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
-
- well, you know, the way I look at it, you did create a new article. Someone else only put a placeholder there but didn't want create the actual article and put in the meat, so to speak. So, from where I stand at least, you ARE the rightful "owner". --Mmounties (Talk) 04:27, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, I'll buy that. Haven't posted a lot new lately. I'll have to get back at it. Wiggy! 04:31, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Field hockey/pattern list
Hi Wiggy! I moved the hockey pattern list to Template talk:Field hockey kit, not only because that's the sort of thing it's useful to have at the talk page, but because it really shouldn't be in the main article space. While on the topic, what's the best way to do the away shirt for Partick Thistle F.C.? JPD (talk) 15:04, 21 March 2006 (UTC)
- It's all yours! Glad to see someone making use of it. There is a wide selection of shirts available at Template talk:Football kit that you can reference or copy to your own template page. To make new patternes I use Adobe Photoshop. Just start out with a clean copy of an existing pattern, modify it to suit your needs, and save it under a new name. Partick's away pattern looks to be unique, so that would be the way to go. Wiggy! 15:36, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

It's so someone can work on it. I just don't have the patience of working on playing squads.
[edit] Thriller box
Wiggy, you don't even have that box on your userpage. Why do you keep changing it? Please keep your POV to yourself and leave the box alone.
By the way, no-one has complained about my changing it back, either.Kelisi 23:46, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
- Nor do you own it, sir. The other version has been up for weeks without issue. I did however place the original box which is to your preference on the page as User thriller2, so that should keep the all happy. Wiggy! 23:54, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Toronto puck.jpg)
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Toronto puck.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 06:28, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
- I removed this image from the hockey puck article, since it was immediately below a freely licensed image and this one was being used under a claim of fair use (and a questionable claim at that, since it used the {{logo}} tag but was not being used to illustrate the Toronto Maple Leafs). Let me know if you have any questions. —Bkell (talk) 06:28, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
- It's there to tie into and illustrate the point (from the first paragraph) that hockey pucks are typically marked with team logos. That's a common practise in professional, semi-pro and junior hockey. As distinct from most other sports that don't emblazon their balls (or whatever) with team logos. The only all black pucks you might see are practise pucks or those used in house league or recreational play. Logos on pucks are part of the culture of the game (and they make a nice souvernir). Please leave the image stand. Thanks. Wiggy! 00:08, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

[edit] Jelly bean "frame"
The reason the image appears to you to have a "frame" is possibly because you're using a browser that is not completely compatible with PNG graphics, so the transparent background to the jelly beans picture instead appears white instead of transparent. I'm unable to convert it to a transparent GIF as I promised (Photoshop won't open!). --Brandon Dilbeck 01:50, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
