The station was sold to Starr Broadcasting Company in 1963. The Times Mirror Company acquired the station in 1980 and changed its calls to WHTM-TV. The station was sold to Smith Broadcasting Company in 1984 and acquired by its current owners Allbritton Communications in 1996.
