Whorehouse Meadow

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Whorehouse Meadow is a meadow located in the Steens Mountains east of Frenchglen, Oregon. It earned its name in the days of the Old West. Enterpreneuring females from Vale, Oregon would set up canvas tents in the meadows to provide services to the sheepherders and cattlemen of the area. The name was changed briefly in the 1960s to "Naughty Girl Meadow", but in 1981 the public convinced the Bureau of Land Management to change its name back again.
