TV.com summary

Whoopi was a short-lived TV sitcom starring Whoopi Goldberg as Mavis Rae, a member of the former one-hit wonder group The Ebony Blackbirds. The series revolved around the events and people at her hotel, the Lamont Hotel in New York City. The show was critically reviled; one writer called it "a free sample of Hell." The show aired at 8:00 PM ET, on Tuesdays starting September 9, 2003, on NBC; it went off the air in April 2004.
