"Who Is It" was a hit recording for singer Michael Jackson in 1992 (Europe) and 1993 (United States). The song was, like some of Jackson's famed tracks, a song about rumors. Ironically, the song's subject matter was about how the author's woman left him "for reasons unexplained" and during bridges is often asking who was the person that possibly the woman is running off with: "Is it a friend of mine?"; "Is it my brother?" The song peaked at #14 on the Billboard Hot 100 when released. Michael Jackson sang an a cappella version of the song during his 1993 interview with Oprah Winfrey.
[edit] Music video
The music video for "Who Is It" features Michael Jackson's supposed girlfriend working as a call girl with other men, including a man confined to his wheelchair. The video originally did not get Michael's approval for release,[citation needed] as he was on tour at the time. Michael was angry at the early release of the video and also was not satisfied with the final product.[citation needed] Due to Michael being busy with the Dangerous World Tour at the time of the making of the video, a Michael Jackson lookalike was used in some of the scenes.[citation needed] The video can be found on the "Dangerous - The Short Films" DVD.
