"Who I Am Hates Who I've Been" is the second single by the Christian rock band Relient K, from their 2004 album Mmhmm. An acoustic version, originally recorded for Apathetic EP, is included on the B-side. The music video entered TRL's Top 10 in 2005, reaching as high as 8th on the countdown.

Matt Thiessen wrote the song in Australia in light of a feud with a friend. The lyrics reflect remorse for his behavior, as well as pleas for forgiveness.

The music video for the song shows a woman encountering various events being rewound and replayed, interposed with scenes of Relient K performing on a urban rooftop. As the woman moves, her actions control everyone around her. As she begins to see how she is affecting people around here, she retraces her steps to set things right. There is a short piano-only chorus in the middle of the song that was cut from the video. As with the "Be My Escape" video, exclusions visually include Dave Douglas singing background vocals, and Matt Thiessen playing the piano. The video was released in October 2005.

  • For the music video, Matt Hoopes had the idea to have a flower pot with Relient K's flower in it on top of the roof. Matt Thiessen would kick it off, and that would be the reason the girl would stop suddenly.
  • Matt Thiessen was originally supposed to be the person in the music video that had the power to control time and to fix things. In the end, he was replaced with the girl, C.C. Sheffield.
  • As the girl walks down the street in the music video, she sees a man come within inches of being hit by a car. This car is actually a Plymouth Reliant K car, which is what the band is named after.
  • Many fans do not understand the song's opening lyrics, "I watched the proverbial sunrise coming up over the Pacific". While many might gather that you'd have to be in Asia or Australia to see the sun rising over the Pacific Ocean, they also assume that Matt Thiessen messed the lyrics up. He did in fact write the song in Australia, while in a fight with a friend.
  • The picture used for the single's cover is in the Mmhmm album booklet.
