Whitsunday Shire Council is a Local Government Area in north Queensland, Australia. The shire includes the towns of Proserpine, Airlie Beach, Cannonvale and Shute Harbour. It also includes the islands of the Whitsundays, including the resort islands of Hamilton Island, Hayman Island and Daydream Island.
Proserpine is the administrative centre for the shire.
The shire economy is mainly based around tourism and sugar is the main agricultural product.[1]
