Whitkirk

Whitkirk is a district of east Leeds in the county of West Yorkshire, England, situated between Cross Gates to the north, Austhorpe to the east, Killingbeck to the west, Colton to the south-east and Halton to the south-west.

Whitkirk Lane End is a small area of Whitkirk situated immediatly north of Colton. The area is mainly terraced housing with some semi-detached and some detached houses.

Whitkirk has a large cricket club which has a large cricket pitch and 5 tennis courts, along with a large bar area. The areas housing ranges from detached houses, semi-detached houses and terraced houses.

Located next to Temple Newsam Estate, Whitkirk is linked to the stately home of Temple Newsam House. Road and street names are often associated with medieval paths to Temple Newsam. For example Kingsway, Knightsway and Baronsway all lead towards the house and would have been used in the past by the different classes of nobility.
