Whiteout (comic book)

Whiteout is a black and white graphic novel created by writer Greg Rucka and artist Steve Lieber. It was originally released in four issues during 1998, by Oni Press. The story follows Carrie Stetko, a U.S. Marshal working at McMurdo Station in Antarctica, and her investigation of a murder that takes place there. It was followed by a sequel, Whiteout: Melt. The book once crossed over with Barry Ween, written by Judd Winick.
In 2000 Whiteout was nominated for Eisner Awards for Best Writer, Best Artist, Best Limited Series, and Best Graphic Album.
In 2002 a movie was announced starring Reese Witherspoon. IMDB has it listed with an outdated release date (2005).
Joel Silver has signed a $220 million deal with CIT Group to produce 15 new films in the $10 million-$40 million range during the next six years. The first film under the deal through Silver's Dark Castle Entertainment is expected to be action thriller, Whiteout, reports Variety. Production is scheduled to begin this winter for release in the first quarter of 2008.[1]
