White sponge nevus

White sponge nevus, also known as a Cannon's disease, is a genetic disorder characterized as having an autosomal dominant inheritance. It is caused by a mutation of the keratin 4 and keratin 13 genes. When it presents in the mouth, it appears as a thick bilateral white plaque, usually on the buccal mucosa.
