White Lady (cocktail)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
White Lady (also known as the Delilah) is essentially a Sidecar made with gin in place of brandy.
This cocktail was devised by Harry MacElhone in 1919 at Ciro's Club in London. He original used Creme de Menthe, but replaced it with gin at Harry's New York Bar in Paris in 1929.
The original recipe of 1929 is:
- 1 oz. Gordon's London Dry Gin
- 1 oz. Cointreau
- 1 oz. Lemon Juice
The cocktail is sometimes also made with additional other ingredients, e.g. egg white, sugar and cream.
