From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The White Carpathians (Czech: Bílé Karpaty; Slovak: Biele Karpaty) are mountains in the western part of the Carpathian Mountains. They are part of the Slovak-Moravian Carpathians and are situated on the border between the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The highest elevation is the 970 m high Velká Javořina (Veľká Javorina), second highest is Velký Lopeník (911 m).
It is a Protected landscape area (since 1979) with a variety of fauna and flora. Some species are to be found only in this particular region. Especially some types of orchids grow only in the meadows of the White Carpathians.
