[edit] History

Whip's past is as shrouded in mystery as the young woman herself. She only remembers that she was looking for her brother (later revealed to be K'), and the only name in her mind was NESTS, so that is where she heads to. She has always worked for the NESTS cartel as an assassin, expert in the use of firearms, and of course, her weapon of choice ever since she began her life of fighting: her whip, Uddodou. Whip, also called Muchiko (which means something along the lines of 'whip-girl', her real name is Seirah or perhaps Sara), never learned to do anything else, and it becomes troublesome for her. However, during her stance in the cartel, she meets a troubled young man, who at the same time, seems to act nicely around Whip: he called himself only Krizalid.

Soon enough, Krizalid becomes obsessed in dominating the world, and pays little to no attention to Whip's warnings. Seeing how her dear friend had become mad with power, Whip realizes she wants nothing to do in the NESTS cartel anymore. She leaves one night, and wanders around for a while, before she hears about a mercenary agency named Ikari Warriors. Whip goes to the main Ikari base, and reports to commander Heidern. She would like to join the Ikari Warriors. After seeing a display of her skills, Heidern deems her worthy of such honor, and soon enough, Whip raises quickly in the ranks.

Whip is introduced to the main members of the Ikari Warriors: Lieutenant Ralf Jones, field leader. Clark, point man. And Leona, another rookie in the Ikari lines. Whip and Leona soon find a lot in common. Both having personal conflicts that they don't want to share with anyone but themselves. They also were haunted by ghosts of the past. But in order to resolve their problems, they should first try to depend on others. Whip gets to go along with the unit as Heidern assigns Whip her first important mission: investigate the evil host of the next King of Fighters tournament.

[edit] Personality

Whip is quite enigmatic and silent for a young woman of her age, but is comprehensible once you realize that she didn't pass too much with the rest of society. Despite being surrounded by violence and death, Whip secretly desires true happiness one day, She finds new hopes in her friends Ralf, Clark, and Leona. A family, that Whip never enjoyed of and keeps looking for.

[edit] Trivia

  • In some KoFs, Whip can attack her opponents with a Desert Eagle. In KoF 2002 her HDM (Super Blackhawk) takes this a step further as she fires a more powerful, unblockable round across the screen.
  • Whip's real name is セーラ(Sera) which can be romanized in many ways, in KOF 2001 cutscene it was translated as Seirah, but SNKP have translated it as Sela in the King of Fighters Maximum Impact 2 site. Both are correct.
  • Before Whip joined the Ikari, her codename is Sally. Ralf gave her Muchiko (which means, roughly, "Whip Girl" in Japanese) for a new codename, and it seemed she didn't like it. Also note that in KOF 10th, Muchiko was translated as Whippy. [1] [2]
  • Whip's DM, Sonic Slaughter, got a new animation (& code) in KoF 2003. The original animation is used as her LDM.
  • From KoF 99-2003, Whip only ever had one DM (with the SDM being a power-ed up version of the DM). In KoF XI, she gets a new DM, Red Whip Genocid, which looks similar to Lenny Creston's Desperation Move from Art of Fighting 3.
  • It could be assumed that the capabilities of her whip was inspired by Maria, a villainess of the Choujin Sentai Jetman series. The weapon of the latter, dubbed as Necrod can transform into an electromagnetic whip, a sword, and a beam gun all of which Whip's weapon can also do.
  • Whip can be seen to produce a projecting blade from her boots during her standing D kick (hard kick) and crouching B (light kick) moves. Also, she possesses a jumping CD (knockdown) attack where she uses a weapon that looks like a spike with barbed-wire. This is the only occasion where Whip uses this weapon.
  • Whip can be heard to shout "Game Over!" when she performs her '02 HDM Super Blackhawk. Maybe referencing that she's aware that she's in a game, or perhaps just hinting that the move is hard to avoid and does plenty of damage.

[edit] Quotes

  • "All show, no substance!"
  • "You fought well! Even my whip Voodoo's impressed."
