Whidbey Island class dock landing ship

The Whidbey Island class dock landing ship is a ship of the United States Navy. Introduced to fleet service in 1985, this class of ship features a massive well deck for the transport of four landing craft air cushion hovercraft for landing Marines.

  • 6 M2 .50 cal machine guns
• Ship's Company: 22 officers, 391 enlisted
• Military Lift: 402 standard, 102 additional for surge
• Aircraft: Large helicopter platform aft, no hangar
