In spite of his chronically bad chest, his painful sinuses, his weak ankles and recently acquired nervous twitch, Pike has been passed A1 on call-up medical. Before the platoon can hold a farewell dinner, however, Mainwairing must compete with Hodges in a blood donor drive.
