[edit] Format
The format of the show is fairly simple, with each car receiving two 30 minute episodes:
[edit] Part1
- The pair have a budget to buy and then do-up a classic car.
For Series 1 the budget sum was £1000. For Series 2 the budget sum was £2000. For Series 3 the budget sum was £3000.
- Brewer targets a car, and goes to negotiates a deal.
- Brewer hands the car over to China, with an assessment of what needs doing
- China starts the work, with a good breakdown of key points and details
- Brewer enters China's works shop. China gives Brewer an overview of what he's done, and the budget is assessed (end of first part of two episode series)
[edit] Part2
- A quick review of Part1
- Brewer goes to find a special or required part
- Brewer goes to look at the same car in excellent condition. The owner is usually and expert on the car who discusses why he likes it and common problems with car that may need to be looked at if you are buying one.
- China finishes the work
- Brewer returns to China's workshop, with the finished car on display
- Brewer drives the car, and assesses how much better the car is than how he purchased it
- Brewer sells the car, and there is a review of "profit"
The profit of any project is always assessed without the cost of Edd China's time - so it doesn't really reflect the true economic result if the buyer cannot repair the car without any professional help. Nevertheless the show presents guidelines on buying and maintaining a classic.
