[edit] Personnel
The Doobie Brothers:
- Patrick Simmons - guitar, vocals
- Tom Johnston - guitar, vocals
- Tiran Porter - bass, vocals
- John (Little John) Hartman - drums
- Michael Hossack - drums
Note: New 2nd drummer Keith Knudsen replaced Hossack during the recording of VICES. Hossack was thus credited as a guest musician even though he had played drums throughout the album. The band is seen from the back on the front and back covers of the album, so it's hard to tell which drummer is with them, but it is in fact Knudsen. Knudsen's only actual contribution to the album was to sing backing vocals.
Additional Players:
- Keith Knudsen - drums
- Jeff "Skunk" Baxter - guitar, pedal steel, steel guitar
- James Booker - piano on "Down In The Track"
- Arlo Guthrie - autoharp, harmonica
- Eddie Guzman - conga, timbales, percussion
- Jack Hale - trombone
- Milt Holland - tabla, marimba, pandeiro, percussion
- Wayne Jackson - trumpet
- Andrew Love - saxophone
- James Mitchell - horn
- Novi Novag - viola
- Bill Payne - keyboards
- Ted Templeman - percussion
