Whale tail
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Whale tail referring to a whale's tail or, more recently a phrase, created by Gavin Hamilton in October 2003 for his site whale-tail.com, reffering to the appearance of a thong or g-string above the waistband of low-rise pants, shorts, or a skirt creating a whale's tail shape.
Whale Tail may also refer to large rear spoilers on cars, particularly older Porsche 911's.
The word was selected by American Dialect Society (a group of linguists, editors and academics) in January 2006 as the "most creative word" of 2005 (beating out "muffin top", the bulge of flesh hanging over the top of low-rise jeans.)
