[edit] History

WGSM-FM was originally WHJB-FM, WOKU-FM, and classic rock station WSSZ-FM, all licensed to Greensburg, but became a simulcast of WAMO-FM in 1996 to cover the eastern part of the metro. In 2003 it became a simulcast of WAMO (AM) after the 106.7 signal moved its tower and improved its coverage. In 2004, it acquired the WJJJ calls, and changed its name to "Majic 107.1," but the programming remained the same.

On January 30, 2006 Sheridan sold WJJJ to The St. Pier Group LLC, who immediately flipped the station from Urban Adult Contemporary to Variety Hits, using Westwood One's "SAM" satellite format. They also decided to target the Westmoreland County area by planning to move the studios and offices back to Greensburg. The transmitter is southeast of Latrobe, Pennsylvania.

The WJJJ call letters were previously used for a smooth jazz format on the 104.7 frequency, and for a "Jammin' Oldies" format, also on that frequency. Today, 104.7 is WPGB.

Local radio legend, Tony Michaels, is not only the station manager, but the host of the Jukebox Saturday Show - one of the longest radio shows in PA radio history - every Saturday from 10 AM to 2 PM.

WGSM also airs high school football on Friday nights in the fall.
