[edit] History
The groundwork for WGRT was actually first laid in 1980, but a lengthy set of competitive hearings from other broadcasters looking to gain a foothold in the coveted Detroit radio market pushed the actual sign-on date to October of 1991.
WGRT is the lone station in St. Clair County, Michigan that is still locally-owned and operated, and is a standalone operation.
