From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Construction continues on Enric Miralles' elaborate new complex for the seat of the Scottish Parliament in Holyrood park (opposite Holyrood Palace, and below Arthur's Seat). The spikey white building to the left is not part of the parliament - it is "Our Dynamic Earth", a science exhibition space. Above the new parliament, half-way up the Calton Hill behind it, is the neoclassical Royal High School, which was prepared for a previous devolved scottish parliament, but never used. On top of the Calton Hill are several monuments, including the squat, naval-rigged tower, a monument to Horatio Nelson.

Photo taken by Finlay McWalter on 7th August 2004 from part-way up Arthur's Seat.
