Talk:Weyburn-Big Muddy

If you are going to revert, then just leave it as 'The seat became vacant when Brenda Baaken Lackey tendered her resignation'.

There is no truth whatsoever to the unsubstantiated and unreferenced allegation that Ms. Baaken Lackey left her seat due to any conflict within the Saskatchewan Party or its legislative caucus. When Ms. Baaken Lackey resigned, she cited a frustration with operating in the overall legislative framework where the opinions and desires of her constituents were in no way reflected in policy of the Government of Saskatchewan. This is more indicative of the stress and fatigue of being in opposition and having your views ignored, if not unfairly ridiculed by the presiding government.

As an aside, Ms. Baaken Lackey was treated very poorly by the New Democratic Party. Pat Atkinson, a long-time NDP cabinet minister, was forced to apologize in the Assembly for using a theriomorphism in reference to Ms. Baaken Lackey (called her a dog). Obviously this is a disgustingly low level of discourse and innuendo, but typical of Saskatchewan NDP MLA's and their supporters. (see: the NDP's 2003 election cartoon depicting the former Leader of the Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition as a Nazi.)
