[edit] History

The wXw initially started out on December 24th 2000 in Essen, Germany as a new promotion built around wrestlers of the former NAWA under the guidance of Peter "Hate" Wiechers. Starting with national wrestlers such as Thomas Blade, SigMasta Rappo and Michael Kovac, wXw lives through a steady growth in both quality of shows and quantity of public interest.

A lot of people consider March/April 2003 as the breakout months for wXw when Chris Hero and Mike Quackenbush entered the promotion starting the new concept of mixing independent wrestling superstars from all over the world with the local talent. During 2004 and the beginning of 2005 collaborations with Pro Wrestling NOAH from Japan and IPW:UK and Wrestle Zone Wrestling from the United Kingdom, as well IWA Mid-South and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla from the United States enlarged the variety of the shows.

Titles include Heavyweight, Lightweight, Hardcore, and Tag Team Titles. Aswell as an international tournament known as the 16 Carat Gold Tournament.

"wXw-made" Wrestling Stars include; "Double C" Claudio Castagnoli, who now lives in the US as a frequent competitor for Ring of Honor and CHIKARA; Emil Sitoci; Steve Douglas; Ares, who now wrestles in Combat Zone Wrestling; Alex Pain; and many more.

Guest stars include Kenta Kobashi, Mitsuharu Misawa, Raven, Jun Akiyama, Naomichi Marufuji, CM Punk, Paul Burchill, Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Super Dragon, El Generico, and many more.
