Westminster Christian Academy is an independent, K-12 grade college-preparatory school in Watkinsville, GA. It was founded by a group of like-minded Christian families in the late eighties as a homeschool group where their children's education would be based on biblical principles. During its first year, the academy employed one teacher and had only twelve students. The school continued to rent its classrooms from several area churches until, in 1998, a new campus was completed on thirty acres of land in Oconee County. At the end of the 98-99 school year, Westminster saw its first class graduate. Since then, the school has continued to operate in the same location.
[edit] Athletics
Westminster Christian Academy's nineteen sports teams compete within the Georgia Independent School Association (GISA). These teams include soccer and basketball teams for both boys and girls, along with baseball, softball, and girls' volleyball. A football program was also begun a couple years ago.
